Second Best Day!!!!! I FOUND GOLD!!!!!! WOHOO! This is the first Gold that I have found with my F2 and I hope there to be more. I went out for only a half hour with a mate of mine, he was using my old detector, and we were mainly doing a beach when he got a bit board and decided to detect on the grass. Well he told me to come and have a look at what he was digging and WOW he found an old Stop/Go sign that the road workers use!!! And while he was digging I decided to recheck an old tree that I had done with the old detector... lots of rubbish then I found a half penny 1947. and then I got a target id of 24... thought it was a foil chocolate coin when I saw that it was actually a Gold Heart!!!!! I didn't have time to check if there were any more there so you know where I will be going first chance I get!!!

here are the pics

Well it was quite thin so it was coming up as foil... I did finally disc out iron...(i don't like to do that as I miss the 10,20 & 50 cent pieces) and when I tried to bend it it did not bend!

I was going to try and just ignore everything below 60 but after that find I don't think so! lol.

This is my first gold find with my F2 but my cheap old one found me an 18k white gold mens ring! hope my F2 will do the same.

WOW six silver rings! I only have one and a couple of pewter and steel ones... Just remember that next time you get a pulltab id it may be a gold ring... my gold heart was foil... best of luck to you! I will say that all the gold and all the rings that I have found were not in the sand but by the trees or in the grass next to the beaches... don't know why.

I usually dig all targets. I end up pulling lots of crap out of the ground. So I have a big bum bag to load it into. It's good to keep a large lump of lead in there because then if someone starts whining about you digging holes in a park you can point out you are removing heavy metals from the environment which is good for community health. That shuts them up pretty quick.

Good one! I have not had any negative people except for the odd drunk teen driver shouting from his car... lol. But I usually do the same cause I like finding those cool and odd finds which sometimes show up in the iron category... esp. the 10, 20 & 50 cent coins. I have to remember to keep some lead in my work pouch just in case though, and I will keep it next to the needles and hooks. I use one of those nail/tool belts that have two pouches and a couple of pockets. The pouches are quite deep and big so I use one for the good stuff and one for the junk!

The other good thing about digging all targets is that you clean out the ground - so if you get a better detector/coil one day and go back to the same place to get the deep stuff, you've already cleaned the crap out.

Yea everyone asks me if I'm looking for gold and I always say that I am looking to find gold but mainly find coins... The coolest ones are when little kids come up and ask "why you digging a hole?" I always tell them that I am looking for pirates treasure and that makes their eyes light up. I have two young ones that I infected with Gold/Detector fever and are both itchen to get out with me... too bad I only have 2 detectors... lol

Well had the chance to go out again yesterday... I don't get many chances as of late. Spent about half an hour at what I was expecting to be a beach but turned out to just be a park so I scanned the trees :).

I decided to try to discriminate iron and see what I find and it did work as I covered more ground and ended up with more goldies than usual. One interesting find was a 1988 British penny... don't know how it got there.

Here are my finds:

here are the current finds as of yesterday lunch break 17/11/11

Found a really cool shamrock pin with an old school leprechaun on it, the one with a pointy hat rather than a top hat. Also, I found two old pennies in the same hole! I thought that was pretty cool.

I am doing pretty well this week! I haven't had to skip my lunch breaks so I got to go out again today to do some detecting. Found most of the usual stuff with 2 thrupence not silver though ... maybe next time. I must say that the last couple of days worth of finds have been where I have already detected with my old cheep detector... I am REALLY glad that I finally got me a decent detector!

I also did a count of all the current coins that I have found and I am up to $67.40 in spendable! I am saving up for a good pinpointer.
