I would go back again and again! you never know what might be there! i usually target everything above foil, that way i still hit the silver thre'pences and Gold rings ;) and when I am done there is usually nothing left to give a ding... lol

just updated the blog with my 24th trip... wasn't much as it was only a 20 minute one but I did manage to find a mint 1953 shilling... to honest I have never seen one in this condition before... lol

it says 18ct. and yeah it is both old and solid! It has lots of minerals on it when i found it... must be at least 10-20 years old or more!

I would place the ring as much older then that. A 10-20yr old 18ct ring would come up looking like new as gold doesn't corrode, only the additional metals do. Personally I would say it was lost sometime in the 1930's - 1950's. A couple of 9ct rings I have found on the beach were in a similar condition and these were found with coins dating 1940-60. Since 18ct is more pure it would be older then these.

Well I am still trying to get caught up on my Napier trip! One of my best finds was a 1961 1/2 penny which I found in the bunk that I was sleeping in!
