Getting caught up... I had only 30 minutes so not as much this time. I did find a fake ring too but that is not in this pic.

Went out again to the local spot and found a fair bit of stuff. Some of the more interesting finds were, a plated ring(well deteriorated!) a silver sixpence :), a cubic zirconium earring(like 2 carats), and a round piece of copper which has etched on it "Ben, 21 Nest Ave, Te Atatu Nth, Ph 334-6888" interesting. And a us penny?! lol

Here is the pic.

And here is my latest trip. I went to a different spot just to change things up and I found some goodies :). I found my first silver 1/2 crown and also found another silver 3d. This spot had more older coins than my usual spot. I usually find lots of old decimal coins but this time I found more pre-decimal coins( I prefer the pre-decimal). I also found a 1930 Cadillac key chain, an aluminium pendant, a nice broach(which broke in my hand!) and another lipstick container(a newer one than the last).

Here are the pics:

Went out again and check the grassy areas and found mostly current coins. Here is the pic.

And here is my latest trip out and went back to the regular spot and went back over what I had already check and found some stuff that I missed :( I guess I really need to invest in a detector that goes deeper than 4cm... lol!!!! Found a really good condition 1943 penny... I thought that it might be a silver cause of the condition until I say the "Penny" on the back. The pic does not do the coin justice but here it is.

Found a dog tag too not so long ago and had an interesting convo with the owner. She was happy to hear from me. Told her i was a treasure hunter.. lol. Seven or so years later was the lost time. Dog was called Stella Artios,( like the beer).

I found 2 dog tags on the weekend in the same city park. One was Tedd and the other Wallace.
Finding a tag usually makes me wonder what sort of dogs they were / are.

I never thought that it could be a dog tag.... but that makes sense! I will have to give the number a call and see what happens... cool story creamer

Cool stuff Gnut. A dod tag is a dog tag, a find is a find. But... the tag provides info and that in itself is valuable fossicking info. The owners wont mind a call and after that log it and all is good.

Shane

my find at Tapuatahi beach. And again, the owner was amazed.

Yeah, I am not too sure if it is cause it is just a round thin brass chip with two holes in it... I found it along with some 1930's relics so... But I am still gonna call the number and see... there is no last name so it will probable be a dog tag... though who names their dog ben???? lol

Yip, Ben is so stereo type... lol. And our Golden boy is called Jake.
Getting back to the dog tag. How many found relics offer the chance to speak to the owners. Not many if any i guess. A tag seems so trivial. Tho after talking to the owner and logging the info at the same time, i came away feeling great and with a feeling of accomplishment over wot seemed a small non trivial thing. Just adds to the whole mystique of treasure hunting.

Hey all! Haven't been out much lately but here is a pick of all my stuff thus far. All that flat metal is lead and I melted it all and have about half a kilo! don't know what it was used for but it was a sheet of it.

Here is the pic

Well had the chance to go out with my boy again... I don't cover as much ground with my 3 year old as I do by myself, but I sure do enjoy it more. Didn't find much but here is the pic.
