Yeah. Quite heavy chain too, looking forward to weighing it. You forgot the 1933 half crown (only silver I pulled out of the ground!) and the $18.40 in current coinage.

That was a great spot!. Congrats on the silver chain too.

ya i wasnt sure what all you found..i did forget about the half crown.lol...the gold chain and locket was stuck in my mind...hahaha
it was a great spot...and thanks..the only thing wrong with the necklace is that i have to get a new clasp put on it as one link is broke off...not sure if i hit it of if it broke when i was pulling it out of the ground...but it is just the part that connects the 2 ends together so not a big problem to make it normal again.
and it is a good weight of a chain..not a flimsy one.

Also the thing in the picture under the watch i have no idea what it is but it was down about 12 inches or so..

Also i am going to call Fisher and ask them to change the name of my detector from Goldbug to Silver bug...lmao...yup found another silver .925 ring today.
all in all a good day.

Well, I went back to that same spot in Hagley Park yesterday, Chris, and further towards the city, in amongst your plugs, I pulled out ANOTHER silver ring and also one hole right by the river bank produced a 1940 penny, then a 1940 halfpence, then a 1934 florin.

So still plenty of good stuff to come out of there yet.

AshT came along and broke his Hagley Park virginity. I had a play with his pinpointer and have decided that since that big security wand costs twice as much here in NZ as the pointer, I will sell it on Trademe and use the proceeds to buy a pinpointer from the NZ Garrett dealer.

It's amazing what has been missed or what others think is a bad signal (not to mention what we miss ourselves aheeemmm) wish I was still in chch to go hunting with you folks. I'm going over an old park in dunners and have to say I need to be more systematic instead of just, going ohh yeah that's where people have been under trees etc, a good learning curve aslong as I can keep the local kids at bay long enough to actually swing my md.

Getting some good stuff there Chris. I better go and have a nosey round myself........hard to get my mind off going up to Motueka for a few weeks soon. Gotta try and work out how to fit the sluice, detector, associated buckets and shovels etc, 2 kids, a wife and all the crap they have to take.....all in a 4 door jappa with no roofrack or towbar. Note I put all that in order of importance lol.

~Nodz~ I hear ya Chrischch, I find that taking the kids and offering them all the 10c 20c 50c gets me some pretty valuable child labour!
I didn't do too bad today found $25 (in goldies) and labour cost was $1.70 *8^)

Poohbear
Found a steak/paring knife today, in a kids playground, just waiting for someone to become impaled, peeves me off that it was probably dropped by some 'tough guy' ~shakes head~ I didn't take it in like you did but I agree that it's not a nice feeling finding stuff like that.
Also how does your Md go at the beach? Are you limited to the dry sand?

I ended up back at Hagley again for a while today. Pulled out 1900 and 1926 threepence from one hole, plus a 1933 shilling and a very worn victoria shilling - pre 1887 from the head shape, but can't make out a date so far. I like those worn victoria shillings, even if I can't see the date. :)

Also found a sizable gold locket, but it was plated rather than solid :(

You say your not usually cruel to animals ((don't take offense I'm just teasing)) but what about the hundreds/thousands of worms you must have cut up with that Lesche?
I guess when it's all said and done they will get their own back and I am no exception to this!

Maybe a water pistol needs to be added to the ever growing tool belt!!! Then we will have the armed offenders on us as they have had reports of a gun carrying, knife wielding metal detectorist!!! I can just see it... Umm no officer I wasn't doing anything wrong I was just picking up what they dropped after they ran away!

Seriously I was getting very concerned very quickly with that dog, next move would have been my large screwdriver.
NO sign of the owner...figures. Then again my way of thinking is menacing dog, menacing owner.

BTW I just can't seem to find anything except for $1, $2 coins and bottle caps.
Think I will have to talk nicely to Graham and see if i can tag along on his next venture and see if this Garrett AT Gold can find the real gold stuff *8^)

maybe you have your disc set to high..lol....ya I have cut up my share of worms..lol.....as for the menacing owner the lesche would do wonders on him to..lol

free running dogs are a worry when you dont know the dog and it is charging streght for you..lol...specially when they are big...the labs i dont worry about so much as they are normally friendly....but when you are attacked by 3 dogs at once at the age of 11 years old it kind of scars you for life..lol..
i trust no dog now until i know it..no matter who owns it...including friends..lol

That must have been rough! no doubt a massive understatement.
Before the shakes we used to foster dogs until they were re-homed and we had some BIG dogs, all were beautifully natured. The problem with that is our youngest has absolutely no fear of dogs and climbs all over them just can't get it into him that most dogs are dangerous when pushed to far, not to mention some dogs are just vicious from the get go.

I wonder what animal misadventures the nugget hunters come across when fossicking?
I'm guessing sandflies, possums and pigs *8^)
