A good hunt result.
Like the buckle. There seems to be a few around as I have about 15 - 20 of them now.
All sizes. Must have been a lot of down trouing in the old days for them to loose their buckles.

So today I had high hopes for a little spot I'd been researching .. checked the aerial maps and saw where to dig that hadn't changed over time etc, turns out it was a bust, absolutely packed with 1 and 2 cent pieces, found $11 spendables .. a couple of nz pennies from the 50's and 60's.. but nothing old.. only thing of any good were these.. kinda dissapointed and feel like my hours could of been better pent elsewhere.

Gee you are doing well on the silver coins.
In the last 25 days you have found just on half the number I have
found in 2013. Are you hunting 24/7?
Well done.

MK not hunting 247, I post on here after every hunt.
What I'm doing is only hunting in places I research first.
They're pretty much all park hunts because I'm not a real big fan of beach hunting.
I aim for early 1900's sites in auckland, then go on the auckland council gis viewer and swing in the spots I can see from the 1940's aerial that look best bet, usually when I get to a spot I already know exactly where I should be.

Not wrong there Max, despite several bouts of rain up here, still hard as an inch below the surface in most places.

Djevel, any chance of taking another shot of that last pic with the light on the other side (and a bit lower?) An overlay in PShop should pull up the text then. Had good results extracting text like this from very worn hand carved gravestones.

Cool. Shame the TM references don't give an idea of what they went for.

(The other medallion could be Vietnamese/Thai writing, if that's any help - we get a lot of Thai mags in the office and it looks very similar)

Yep. It's Thai.

The silver medallion looks like it could be catholic? I wonder why it has a serial number on it? That could be an interesting story.

Checking Google Images, it looks like it is - a St Christopher traveller protection medallion.

Having the person looking behind to make sure he's still hanging around watching your back appears to be a common theme...
