There seems to be a few around as I have about 15 - 20 of them now. All sizes. Must have been a lot of down trouing in the old days for them to loose their buckles. MK

Rank: Gold Ingot Groups: Registered Joined: 18/08/2013(UTC) Posts: 139 Location: Auckland Thanks: 1 times Was thanked: 20 time(s) in 17 post(s)		So today I had high hopes for a little spot I'd been researching .. checked the aerial maps and saw where to dig that hadn't changed over time etc, turns out it was a bust, absolutely packed with 1 and 2 cent pieces, found $11 spendables .. a couple of nz pennies from the 50's and 60's.. but nothing old.. only thing of any good were these.. kinda dissapointed and feel like my hours could of been better pent elsewhere.

Also can anyone identify the token?

What I'm doing is only hunting in places I research first. They're pretty much all park hunts because I'm not a real big fan of beach hunting. I aim for early 1900's sites in auckland, then go on the auckland council gis viewer and swing in the spots I can see from the 1940's aerial that look best bet, usually when I get to a spot I already know exactly where I should be.

Djevel, any chance of taking another shot of that last pic with the light on the other side (and a bit lower?) An overlay in PShop should pull up the text then. Had good results extracting text like this from very worn hand carved gravestones.

(The other medallion could be Vietnamese/Thai writing, if that's any help - we get a lot of Thai mags in the office and it looks very similar)
