A few finds only lately

Trip # 128

End of the road.
Nothing to report.

Trip # 129

Buzzing around town with Crisyboy.
4 goldies, 5 coins all up and a piece of jewellery (a dog with no head).

Trip # 130

Other side of the bay.
1 coin all up.

Trip # 131

With the recent wild NE winds i thought my end of the road spot might have a few areas washed away a bit and one spot had lowered a bit. Found some coins before taking on some suttle ringpull signals from down deep. Up pops a ring to my surprise, nothing special but a good find all the same.
3 goldies, 6 coins all up and a ring.

Also found all this lead in one hole. Some molten, one a round ball sinker and one that resembles a bullet, hard to say what it is.

Thats odd getting all that lead in one hole! Especially as it's not all molten.
I found a lead figurine yesterday and it would be the last thing I would have let my kids play with! I wonder how many kids back then died or got sick from lead poisoning?

Yip was a great day for it. Had some hot sun the last week and now its all rain. Getting some work done amongst it.
Was hoping to find at least one ring but no luck. Got quite a few old 20 cent pieces. I fairly sure they were up on the grass and when the edge corrodes away to the sea the coins drop down into the sand. This is somewhat the case at a few places i know hence another reason why some coins are up on the high tide line. Its odd to find an old coin that heavy lying just under the sand like it was dropped yesterday, cool ah
The old truck cab was a nice find all the same and up on the shelf now.

You're correct about the coins eroding from the bank. There's a beach on Waiheke where that happened - coins are too deep to detect from above the bank but every time there was an extra high tide and it cut into the bank more coins appeared. With the seaweed on top of the soft sand that beach looks like it has sanded in a bit, but I bet there will be gold under it! Could be worth another mission north after a good storm.

Great to hear your out and about doing what I'm hanging out to do!

Yes it was quite evident when i went out 3 weeks ago with Crisyboy. The top grass area there was loaded with metal and too much to dig. Over at the edge coins were falling onto a small gravel beach area and some were just lying there. This made it easy to buzz along and pick them up without too much fuss. Good coins too, 1860 - 1945ish, some of my best.
Back to the last spot and im thinking there is a coin line in the middle of this beach as it seems to have a settling spot there. A bit deep to find stuff but maybe a good storm will uncover some of them. 40 minute trip to get there, might be some time.
And yes HDDD is an ongoing thing, one of those life long conditions.

To the other side of the Bay

Trip # 133

I knew conditions weren't right but i went anyhows, had to find something so i sniffed around the stormwater drains coming onto the beach and got a few pickers.
2 goldies, 6 coins all up mostly 1 cent pieces, some lead and another blue stone which was the highlight.

I would love to see some of those beautiful beaches up there. On my bucket list for sure. Those minerals you find are intriguing also. Let us know what you find out.

Post # 30 has some better pics. The closest we could come up with is Bonitoite (blue crystals) with Neptunite (black crystals).
Im starting to think there is a seam of this stuff near the boat ramp where found and its washing pieces up on shore. Its fairly light rock and we find it close to the surface.

Overnighter to Bland Bay area

Trip #134

Was good to finally get away. Found a tidy coin lane on a quiet beach and pulled around 80 moderns. Best find here was an 1895 Victorian Two Shilling in choice condition, was my third hit.
On the way home we pull up at Paihia Beach for some fish and chips and we spotted two older gentlemen sitting on a bench with Garrett detectors leaning up. Well we got chatting and they said they were foss mag fans from Whangarei so i gave them a couple issue 2 and we all headed down to the beach for a buzz. They even had the same shovels as me and one of them found a small GOLD ring, how cool is that. Hope to catch up with them again soon.

12 goldies, 97 coins all up, an 1895 two shilling (florin), 1933 NZ 3p, 1957 NZ penny.

Cheers guys, it was good to get away and the florin made the trip.
Also, I got to see a full NZ Crown in top condition, found by a detectrorist. He also found a 1933 NZ Half Crown next to it. Now that was cool.

That two shilling was a good find and that was a good lot of coins too! Wouldnt it be great to find a crown, finding a half crown next to it would be icing on the cake alright!
