Shame that although we have the history up here, the buggers were all poor - There has to be a Sov around here somewhere though...!

True, we should hit the local soon, it's been a while. Not sure what the conditions are like at the moment but any hunt is a good hunt.

Tui and Magpie shreaking everywhere in the valley next door, and some unidentified night time calls too, some are kiwi.

In the great words of someone famous "I shall have a bath once a month whether i need too or not" .
Loosely translated " I'm going detecting once a month whether i want to or not" .

The tides were extra low last weekend so it was a good time to hit the low tide line for some finds. Didn't find much but it was great to get out all the same.
Thinking of hitting the west coast for a hunt soon. A ton of beachs there, just got to get a group together for a weekend away, mite ask Daves bro, he may say yeh.
Favorite find (one of my favorite finds), the home made sinkers.

A shot of the beach. The Oyster Catcher birds were pulling food out of the low tide line and as they did the Seagull would rush over and steal it off them. Fun to watch.

Because of the storm a lake has formed in the paddock next door and some of the gum trees have snapped off to the ground.
Grey Cranes are flying overhead in numbers (probably got blown out of the top of the gums) and the Tui's are joyous in the flame trees.

After the big winds and rain we headed to the local beach to look for some storm GOLD. Gladly the road was open. Instead we were greated with what looked like a battle zone with debri for miles. With so much stuff pushed up on the beach, the sand was too deep for general detecting but i pushed on in amongst what dropaways and holes we could find.

The flood waters are finally receding up here. Next door paddock is still a lake but it's nice to see the black swans swimming around in it as well as other assorted wild life.

Down to the end of the road for a quickie.

Trip #169

Winter time is a tough time for some but we find gratification with a days hunting when we can

The tide was extra low so i travelled across the bay to the main beach for some low tide action. Found very little so i went around to the other end of the beach where i have had reasonable luck with finding rings and sure enough discovered a nice large heavy tungsten mens ring. Amazing how heavy it was and in great condition. With still only a few coins in the poc i stopped off on the way home at a small secret spot for a couple of old time european coins and a NZ silver florin blackened thru time under ground. Nice end to the day.
