A hunt after the storm to see what goodies had surfaced

Trip # 157

The rellys are over for a week so i took them to the local to check out any storm damage and show them how the detector works. A quick sweep for a few coins and then we got a good hit in the mid foil range on the way back to the car. Low and behold we see GOLD coloured roundness and there it was, my second claim to fame a 18ct GOLD ring in all it's glory followed by shreeks of joy and camera clicking.
Another detectorist was up the beach some ways and this find was a foot away from one of his digs and right underneath a shovel mark he had left.

1 goldie, 3 coins all up and a 18ct GOLD ring

Yip, i'll put it down as one of mean as finds. Quite befitting as this year is the 100th anniversary of Gallipoli.

Some days it's really tough on the wet beach. Most of the time it's tolerable tho but the depth isn't there, somewhere around 20 - 30 cm's maybe.

Good hauls Creamer - I've found local pickings very slim at the moment, more spacejunk than anything else. Looks like Christchurch or Dunedin is the goto for some decent booty these days ha ha.

Shame that although we have the history up here, the buggers were all poor - There has to be a Sov around here somewhere though...!

Keep looking, that sov might be just around the corner. I recon the old abandoned, or remains of houses/buildings is an area that is a bit untouched, empty sections in town (what was once there??). Obviously permission is needed and maybe we (myself included) don't want to go outside of there comfort zone and find out about or seek permission from the owners or maybe it seems a bit too hard, so off we go to the local beach, park etc.

But the rewards should be well worth it. Cheers Iggy
