The gods have smiled upon you Number 8. Prepare for a West Coast adventure.
Get hold of Chrispy. All you need to bring is a sleeping bag and a pillow. We are in search of the Lost Treasure of the Santa Maria, a Spanish treasure galleon. That foundered on the West Coast of New Zealand in 1630. The bullion was taken ashore and buried. So its gold and silver bars and Spanish coin we are targeting. Plus of course Captain Cooks lost cannon and the famed golden horseshoe.

Oh you are indeed about to embark on a most wondrous treasure hunt. I of course just add lots of smokescreens lol. Loose lips sink ships.

Back from a night hunt with Erickd and Foiled Again...great to catch up with you Jason, it's been far too long between hunts mate!

Real hard going night saw a complete lack of any silver coinage for myself. Plenty of pennies and small decimals but no relics either........however......one of the last digs of the night produced this impressively large, albeit quite hideous, heavy sterling silver ring. It's stamped "Mexico .925" but no makers mark. A quick bit of research suggests 1920's to late 1940's as a possible production date....but I reckon it's a big olé piece of 1970's nightmare on Elm Street!

Roadie today with Erick to a couple of far flung locations out in the wopps.
Best find was a coin spill consisting of two shillings, two florins and a half crown. Only two of the five were silvers but still nice to get five big coins from one hole.
Also, a 1944-45 bar from a medal ribbon I think (the second one of those I've had) and an NZ penny that lost an argument with a piece of hot lead!

Two hours out this arvo at a well known Christchurch park, produced a few nice finds including three silvers, an 1889 Vicky penny, an 1896 Vicky half penny and best of all, a very sweet WW2 NZ Medical Corps hat badge.
GL & HH to all.

Cheers MSB (bowing low to a mighty forum pioneer)....great to see you back here and posting.
Yes, I've been very lucky and privileged to unearth some incredible finds over the last couple of years. By far the best this year would have to be the small silver rugby ball, fully inscribed with incredible esrly Canterbury rugby provenance.
What have you been up to "oh great one"?.. :)

Back into it today after a months self imposed exile from the hobby.
Went on a roadie with Erick today and scored myself 15 silvers and a cool old Coleman Mustard club badge from the 1920's.

GL & HH to all.

I will.just piggy back off no8wire post, no room left in my albums, and needs an over haul when back behind a PC.
7 silver coins, silver ring and an HJ Hall token, usually penny's etc.
No8wire has returned with full hunting fury after a short absence.

Yeah, not a rare badge apparently. The Colemans mustard club issued around 500,000 of these we badges in both pin and button-hole badge style. They were issued from around 1920 until the club was wound up in 1933.

Hi all, got a very excited text today from none other than Tonznz (some of you older paydirters will know who I'm talking about) with a VERY special find.
He was out and about today with his trusty Teknetics T2se, hunting a dense piece of the Dunedin bush, when he came upon this stunning piece of WW1 military history.
Long story short, it's a solid, 9ct gold WW1 27th Reinforcements hat badge.

The 27th sailed from NZ in two contingents....one in June and one in July 1917.

Although this not my find, I feel that this spectacular piece of NZ social history should be shared with you all (as does Tony) It is indeed probably one of a kind, and needs to be seen.
All I can say is Wow....just wow!

GL & HH all.
