Hey mate, that first coin on this thread looks very similar to an old anglo saxon coin maybe a Aethelred II as the indents inside the writing match up as does the EM in the same font, worth a look maybe

Hi all,
Here's my latest batch of finds from the past week and a half.
Best find was my third groat...an 1855 that, like the last one, must also have come off a charm bracelet. The other cool find was a White Star Lines shipping button in super condition. I'm guessing around 1930's on this. Also, a nice old three ringer, a couple of pieces of junk jewelry and an unidentifiable and broken badge or token which looks very interesting. If anyone has any idea about it, I'd be keen to hear.

GL & HH to all.

Hi all,
Back when "Brittania ruled the waves", some proud Victorian gentleman would have been rather annoyed at losing this grand old buckle plate.
Imagine it, all gilded and shining brightly in the mid day sun, as it's proud owner stands flag in hand, waiting for the start of the Boar War victory celebration parade ......

Hi all,
A short hunt this arvo produced a first for me and a nice big fat tick off the detecting bucket list.
The New Zealand Armed Constabulary button dates from between 1860 and 1890, I believe. Need to do more research on it tho.
It was real deep....probably a good 12 inches and just a whisper of a signal. It's not in the best nick but still very happy to have it.
Also dug six small silvers, taking my tally for 2014 to 486. Considering I was aiming at 300 for the year, I'm pretty happy with the current total. Hoping to get to 500 before 1st of January now tho.....we'll see I guess.

Merry Xmas and happy holiday hunting to all.

Great find no 8.
Quite rare I would think.
Well I have only managed 50 silver coins this year. Must be great to live
where they are still plentiful. Well done on that tally.

Merry Christmas.

Up and out the door at 6.00 this morning to a small country domain. Only had a couple of hours but scored a few nice finds including a fairly rare 1902 Boar War and Edward VII commemorative medalette. It's rated an "R5" (11 to 25 examples known to exist), so very happy with that.
Also scored five small silvers to add to the tally and a cool old pair of silver cufflinks. These were around 9 inches down and gave a very clear, strong signal. They are not hallmarked but are marked "silver" and have other lettering which I will need to research.

GL & H H H to all.

*** found an identical pair of the cufflinks on the net. "Ancient Order of Froth Blowers" established in the 1920's to raise funds for charity. Made in Birmingham. ***

HAHA bud I know what that cufflink stands for as I have one the same that I found a while back. It is definatly sterling silver and the letters stand for "Ancient Order of Froth Blowers". It was a pub charity group set up in the 1920s-30s in England. You got a pair of silver cufflinks after recruiting so many people into the club. There were also gold cufflinks for those really high up in the club. It didn't last long but I think there were a few thousand pairs made. Great find mate. That wee medal is real sweet too.
