Re the "British Fleet 1924" cool find badge.

The badge is a pendant by the ring at the top and I wonder if sailors actually wore pendants.
Could it be more of a souvenir type badge for that ships visit?
Just a thought.

Hi all. Just a few of the more interesting finds over the past couple of weeks, from a variety of locations around Canterbury.
One of the more interesting finds personally, was the 1oz trade weight. Not memorable because of what it is but where it was found. I dug it only metres away from where the sov's came out. Fuels the theory that maybe there was a gold trading post on that spot back in the day?!....possible I guess.
Also of interest are a couple of nice big British florins, including a 1903 standing Brittania, an Odd fellows lodge badge, a school perfect badge (c1930's), a fun-ho roller and a couple of hallmarked cuff or collar studs. One is hallmarked and assayed to the Birmingham office, with a "Z" date letter for 1899.

GL & HH to all.

Hi all,
The weather looks pretty crap this weekend, so thought I'd post the finds from the last couple of hunts tonight.
Best find was the silver NZ fern badge. I guess it's military but can't find a silver example in any badge books or sites online. Could be a sweetheart badge I guess.
Other finds included a brass ring with turquoise stone, a tiny YMCA badge, another cuff stud ( hallmarked chester, 1914), an 1891 shilling and a very worn 1842 four pence, probably off a charm bracelet.

Hoping for a patch of fine weather this weekend.....to help cure the itch!

GL & HH to all.

is that silver fern some kind of cricket thing perhaps?
the belt buckle looks bespoke, any idea where that would have come from?

Cheers mate, yeah I guess it could be cricket or maybe even rugby related, although it was from an area that I know was used for military parades before and after both wars.
No idea about the buckle mate but it was also from that general area, so possibly military also.

Hi all,
Met up with Erickd this morning for a roadie out to a new spot. A very enjoyable days hunting netted me eight silvers and a couple of other nice finds.
Another hunt the previous weekend also netted some nice stuff including a cool 3/4d token from C&E Morton, Aberdeen. This company supplied canned foods to both the Scott and Shackleton Antarctic expeditions and was the leading canned food supplier during the great war.

GL & HH to all.
