Cheers man, always happy to share my finds with those interested. Yes, the T2se runs a DD coil. Teknetics is owned by the same company that owns the Fisher range of detectors (First Texas) and the T2 seems similar to the F75......only better! ;)
Thanks for taking the time to view my page, and for your comments.

Yeah, discriminate mode on the T2 set at 55, with sensitivity at 70 and 2+ tones. I do occasionally mix it up a bit and try different settings but invariably I come back to the tried and true. How about you? You seem to be picking up on a lot of pretty good finds around the place, so you must be working the F4 to it's optimum.

Always take the iron out, and most of the time foil, and at max sensitivity if its a park I know floods regularly in winter , if its a trashy area I will notch out further to pick up the mid to high tones and button off on the sensitivity
I guess at the end of the day its just luck on where and what you stumble across and willing to dig, and also research. Like ive mentioned before, only been doing this for 4 months and already wanting to upgrade my machine lol

Cheers mate. Yeah, I was so happy that I had someone with me to share the moment. I don't think anyone would have believed what had happened otherwise...lol.
The weird thing was that during the time I was getting my sov's, Jason scored a very sweet ( and very rare)1935 NZ threepence only a few metres away from me!
It's almost as if the moon and stars were in perfect alignment and the universe was in complete harmony for that short period of time.
Just an epic day all round.

Really? I think of the T2 as being similar (and almost as good) as the F75 which I always set on the unlimited tone setting. The reason being that the readout and the audio are two separate process. So targets can have the same number on the readout, but sound different. You can hear differences in similar targets -unless you use the fixed tones. Does the T2 not work like that?

Had a short hunt tonight with foiled again. Not much jumping to the coil, but did net this awesome wee pendant badge.
Willl need to research it a bit but the blue enamel wording at the bottom says "British Fleet 1924". Love finding stuff like this to research.
GL & HH all.

Thanks Roy. No, can't find any special significance for that date either. The only other thought I had here was that it was kind of a "nah nah-nah nah-nah nah...we got here before you" kind of thing done by Britain, before the Australasian American Fleet visit in 1925....a bit harsh I guess but back then we were still firmly and proudly a strong British colony, and I guess Mother England wanted to keep it that way.

Cheers for that great bit of research Roy, awesome to think that 90 years ago a sailor, possibly from the HMS Hood, may have had and lost that wee medallion from his possession all those years ago.
Just to follow on with the nautical theme, today (in a completely different place outside of Christchurch) I dug this silver badge commemorating the HMS NEW ZEALAND's involvement in the WW1 battle of Jutland. Although quite thin, it is most definitely silver would have to rate up there as one of my best historically significant finds. Now to research it!

Cheers Shane, I think what you see on the back is actually the reverse of the imprinted strike from the front of the badge.
Found this interesting link to Papers Past that gives a bit of detail on the sale of these badges at the time.

I see that the silver ones sold for a half crown!

Yeah #8 but the reason your eye sight is getting worse is from the gleaming of all that gold.

Well done especially from a park I have some fond memories of - nuff said *8^)
