Met up with foiled again, l0gic, and coinnut for a night hunt....cheers lads....a very warm and enjoyable evening.
The part of South Hagley we hunted was fairly hard going, as it's a well hit part of the park . Still managed $6 spendies and three silvers including a nice Brit Shilling. Also a couple of pennies, half pennies, a possible token, pocket knife, a few 1's and 2's, a knuckle bone and half a lead sinker!
Cheers again boys for a fun outing.....and happy hunting.

Had a short hunt at South Hagley after tea tonight. Scored some really cool finds. First up was the Victorian hair locket in the same hole as the old medicine bottle. These were a good 8-10 inches down, so pretty old. I see Burrough Wellcome and co were around in the 1880's so it could well be that old give n the depth. Next up was the 1943 NZ shilling followed by the $1 and then the cute wee .925 silver heart necklace pendant . The "S" badge and school button were within a foot of each other.
All in all some pretty cool finds for a spur of the moment, one hour hunt.
Happy hunting all.

Hunted with tonznz tonight down in Dunedin. We hunted this bushy slope for an hour or so and........

WOOHOOO!.........Victorian GOLD! The hallmark says "15C COVENTRY"....no other marks. It has what I believe to be a good size and well cut ruby as it's stone. If anyone can help identify this mark in any more detail, it would be appreciated as I cannot find any info on "Coventry gold" on the net.
Also got two threepences but all spotlight is on the GOLD!

Absolutely bloody stoked and buzzing.

Happy hunting all.

Cheers guys, never expected it to be a ring when I dug it. It was quite a jumpy signal between 71 and 81 on the delta 4000. As I was digging it, I as thinking penny or half penny on its edge...or perhaps a threepence. A ring hadn't even crossed my mind.
Anyway, totally stoked and still buzzing today.

Hey Roy, great to hear from you mate. I see you've had some pretty sweet finds lately too on those aussie beaches.
No, a different slope a little closer to town. Check your PM's.

Good stuff! Would love to detect in my hometown. Havnt been there in ages either. People rave on about Chch and its history but I think Dunedin would be just as good.
That holey dollar that Tonznz found ages ago is the best find I think Ive ever seen on here and now that LOVELY ring!

You must be stoked!

You betcha mate.......she's an absolute beauty.
Totally agree with you about Dunedin and it's hidden history. I think there are still some amazingly good things still buried and waiting to be discovered in the bush around Dunedin.
