Completely untouched ma' man. Amazingly, only gakked one of the silvers...the NZ shilling. All others came out clean!

Yea man was a good night for it and Im still amazed at the nice coins you dug on a regular basis last night!! And some of it just shallow and obvious places! Plenty of inspiration there to find the good stuff! Super well done on the florins, man I gotta get me a big silver soon!
There's another to find and I'm gunna find it!

Yeah, cheers mate. I think listening for the small tones amongst the trash made all the difference. As you said, some of them were "hiding in plain sight" amongst the trash. I guess previous hunters may have gone over too quickly and missed them. Just goes to show what can happen if you take your time with slower sweeps.

WHOO-HOO......Easter GOLD!...........Small town domain hunt on Saturday. Both rings were on the same day and were only about 20 minutes apart. First GOLD for me in 6 months so totally stoked and buzzing!!!!

Both are 9CT but only the shield ring is assay and hallmarked........the horseshoe with the small garnet says only 9CT, so old but undatable.
After a bit of research, I see that the shield ring was assayed in Chester, England. This assay office closed in 1962. The letter date appears to be 1904 but not 100% on that. I can't ID the maker tho. It says CE & FD LTD.

Update ***Possibly Ce & Fd Ltd may be Constantine & Floyd Ltd, Birmingham 1910, although registered at the Chester Assay office in 1896 and using the Chester hallmark until c1910 ***

Shield ring- 3.6gm
Horseshoe ring- 4.08gm

Had a fair few other good scores including some nice old English and NZ silver coinage............but all spotlight is on the GOLD!

Happy Hunting all.

Now thats just downright greedy Andy.

Well done, what a truly fantastic day out that was for you. Any gold for me is extremely rare, you finding two in twenty minutes is inexcusable. ;-D

My greatest fear is that when I die my wife will sell my collection for what I told her it cost me.

Great find alright and silvers too!
Just a quick question....What sort of target i.d. range did they come up in? I realise all machines are different but were they near the range you would normally find pull tabs and foil or up higher near 1 dollar coins or up near the silver range? Hope that makes sense?

Cheers chrischch, Yeah, the target numbers for both rings were around the pull tab number (67/68 on my Teknetics Delta 4000) but also ringing into the early to mid 70's. Both signals were bouncing between these numbers. As I dug the first one at around 6 inches, I was thinking it was either a ball of foil (at a lesser depth) or possibly an NZ sixpence/shilling on it's edge. It's a set of numbers I have dug many times before with various outcomes......but never GOLD! Both rings were about 6" down.
Dollar coins ring in at a clear 79 on my machine and bigger silvers at around 89/91. NZ threepence and sixpence are always a bit bouncy in the 60's and 70's range while NZ shillings are nearly always 72/73. NZ pennies after 1950 are usually a solid 87/88 (also "V" bottle tops!) with 1940's pennies being similar to old UK pennies at around 78/79 (same as 1c).
Hope that gives you a bit of an idea.

No....nothing Masonic about it unfortunately. Just a horseshoe with a garnet inset into a small sterling silver (tarnished) diamond shape.............but very cool none-the-less.

nice score Andrew. Be nice to old 9ct gold as it can snap with what might seem a gentle clean!

Went on a short roadie about 1/2 an hour out of town this morning. Amongst the decimals,pennies,pull tabs and other assorted junk were;

1 x 1943 NZ threepence
2 x 1937 NZ sixpence
1 x 1933 NZ sixpence
1 x 1946 NZ sixpence
1 x 1934 NZ shilling
a "Burke's Whiskey" double sided copper tag thing....and a "Christchurch Electrical Dept" #16 enameled hat badge.

Happy hunting.

Up and out this morning to the Dawn Service........very moving and emotional as always. Lest we forget. Honour the Fallen.

Seeing as it was such a beautiful day, decided to do roadie today after the parade. Had a 7 hour hunt at a location that research told me, was an old rural A & P type showground waaaay back in the day............and it didn't disappoint! Had my best ever haul of treasure in one day including 26 silvers (Yeehah!!!)... and one very cool old "The Acme Boy Scouts" patented whistle.
Can't beat a bit of research!

Happy hunting all.
