Well finished work last night and thought 'cool no rain yet-might be a while away'.
Well got down to Hagley with just a few spots on the windshield, managed about 15-20 minutes before had to call it off with pouring rain...BUT got me two silvers WOOP WOOP!

15 - 20 mins for 2 silvers. Gee that must be some sort of record.

Nah, the other day when I went to meet them in the park I got that silver pocket spill in about 20 seconds from detector turn-on.

Went out hunting with Poohbear last night. I got a nice 1880 shilling and then the drizzle turned to rain so we bugged out.

I know, I was stoked!
Also found a button with Kaiapoi and a maker on it but left it at home after cleaning it up this morning.

Im slighty superstitious, and one of the first coins I found a coupla months back was a modern Irish 20p, which I just added to my jar'o'coins. Then about a week ago I thought I'd put it in my wallet 'for good luck'. Then Sunday? I think it was, I found a pendant thing of Ireland so put that in my bum bag and since then have had quite good success!!

Any (I bet a few) of you guys carry a 'good luck charm'??

You could get some really accurate grid searching going on in conditions like that. Well done.

Best silvers I have found are 2 threepences in a row and 4 threepences in a row, all seperate finds. I did get 2 rings in a row 2-3 meters apart. One was worthless but still a ring. Went to work in the snow today and managed to detect a few puddles beneath the snow but that was my lot for the next day or two. I expect expat will probably think its christmas and will be out looking for threepences for the christmas pudding.

Really all we need is detector mounted blowtorches to clear the way!

Threepences? Can't be bothered with the little blighters Mike, I'll leave them for you. I prefer shillings.

Oops sorry....I forgot you have'nt found any yet.

My greatest fear is that when I die my wife will sell my collection for what I told her it cost me.

Meet up at lunchtime today with some early birders- pooh bear, hunter and treasures at where else but Hagley park!
Had a great day finding my first 9ct GOLD ring! Yay!!
Also found old pennies half pennies etc and scored some silvers best being a 1890 sixpence.
We all had a ball and there were heaps of friendly people interested in what we were doing. Very nice.
Unfortunately for now I can't fire up my computer with the picture but at least can still post with my phone!
