Nice! Try Ammonia (cloudy ammonia) obtained from most supermarkets for the silver stuff. Soak for a few min then use very soft tooth brush to gently brush. (You prob know this but just in case you don't)

ya it looks cool...dont leave in the viniger to long as it will eat away at the metal as it is acidic....definatly use cloudy ammonia..it wont hurt the metal and it cleans silver nicly.

Hey great finds. Do you know what the thing is under the badge? I have found some a couple of times. When I was at hagley the other day I got 3 different sized lead balls and one bullet with 3 rings around it. Must have been a fair bit of shooting going on there. Cheers Mike.

That grated type thing was found with the badge (infact stuck with it-the badge has two locating pins that fit thru the holes..could be the backing for it?) but I dont know if its part of it or not? Its quite thin and almost looks like a bit of the inside of a harmonica but no signs of the rest of it if it was..

And yeah isnt there bullets etc everywhere its crazy! gunho old chch!

Had some finds last night...lots of coins but mainly those pesky 1's n 2's lol...but did find what I thought might be a war token (still looking!).. but is infact a NZ Tourist Dollar. This one has the skyline Queenstown gondola on it. A quick google found ones available from the Army museum/Kelly Tarltons etc. A bit different..one just closing on Trademe at $14 so maybe I'll bung it on there and makes me a dollar hoho

Oh and my second 925 ring in a row! Made in Mexico...cracked through but I guess repairable..

Had withdrawal symptons from the couple of shitty days so went on an impromptu mission to local park for about 2 hrs...how come you're always out longer than you think?..lol

Just one silver tonight..a 1935 Threepence...just kidding its a 1933.

The badge(or pin or whatever) has U15k on the back.

And a H.J Hall Christchurch token..pretty cool-I think Poohbear may have discovered one of these?? Aha! I googed and found Andrew had found one the other day. I see these things are from around 1882! On Trademe it'll go then!

-Like this lol http://www.trademe.co.nz...isting.aspx?id=474148398

I have this Sunday off so will be looking forward to a day hunting from say 10am if anyones keen (unless its a stunner day for sailing). No particular place in mind...

cool thanks Chris..bloody laptop has a battery that now lasts 2 minutes if the power cord isnt connected and the power socket is dodgy on the computer and it died as I was posting lol

My pictures are quite big and can be zoomed heaps!
I do quite like the smaller size pictures that appear in the post as like a thumbnail..I might look at resizing mine like that
