Well boys nice hunt tonight for me. Good to see ash t,poohbear, hunter and Robert all having a swing-I'm sure guys have a few goodies.
My laptop is buggered so can't post pics right now but I had a few good finds!
Got what I think is pendant off a necklace and it looks like GOLD with 9 sapphires in it.
Four silvers, 1933 nz 3d, 1946 3d, 1933 nz florin and a 1922 lion sixpence.
A nice old copper I think pin brooch with a horseshoe.
And what I thought was a small copper ring which looks like its made from a silver coin?!! On the inside it has writing...Victoria dei gratia brittaniar reg fd

Awesome

Plus 1912 h'penny
1916 penny
1884 penny
1901 penny
1953 nz penny
1887 penny
1913 penny
There's another to find and I'm gunna find it!

Thanks Lammerlaw..thats exactly what it is. As many say-you are a wealth of information! I appreciate it and really enjoy your insight into history!

Thanks for the positive comment - the world should revolve around all that is positive.

I am a wealth of generally superfluous, irrelevant and unimportant information that 99.9% of the time no body wants to know nor do they care about, I know very little about whats really important and the rest?...Well thats the bit that I make up!

It can all become a bit confusing for what is mostly a captive audience...most people who know me in real life are on prozac...the modern day equivalent for what a combination of Holloways Pills, Horse linament and Davis's Painkiller used to do!

Righto, thanks to the computer at work for enabling these photos to be posted lol

Close inspection of the horseshoe pin brooch reveals that it was GOLD plated. I think ima gunna capitalise those four letters every time I write them like a coupla others do here...!

And the GOLD and sapphire thing looks like it was a pinbrooch type thing as well.

I prefer the type with the lettering on the outside of the ring, using a tapered mandrel on the inside of the ring.

Cheers for the links Andrew!
Mine is from a shilling or sixpence most likely (from quick google).

Like you, I like the look of the ones with writing on the outside...too cool!

Now, how many of us are going to try and make one haha!
There's another to find and I'm gunna find it!

I like your 1875 penny - I haven't managed to crack the 1900 barrier yet.

Here's a coin ring on trademe

http://www.trademe.co.nz/a.aspx?id=480722348

I'm going to look out for a tapered mandrel so I can have a go at making the "outtie" type.

My oldest coin is 1879 penny. Have yet to find a silver shilling or half crown. Exactly 300 coins total in about 10 weeks.

Probably had one of my bigger coin hauls today. Hagley park again lol.
Luckily two silvers in there! Two nz sixpences from a hunt a coupla nights ago.
Ring looks good but is in poor nick and I dont think is silver.
Still hanging for a crown or something!!

Went through my coins sat night and I dont have any with special mint marks...yet!

Actually, was funny...had been looking around an area for like half an hour and nothing...moved along a bit and first thing I found was a little green pin thing with Irish towns on it...then bam!..all these coins came my way!

Was funny - heard him yell out something,
and headed toward him, after just digging up a silver ring (as it turned out),
and he had just dug a ring too - lmao
