Update time...
Got out on Sunday for just a quickish hunt for a really nice shilling and a brit sixpence, then last night went out for a few hours. Managed another shilling/sixpence combo with a side of 925 ring and a heap of pennies and brown buggers! A number of the NZ pennies were reading nice and high like half crowns, but each time I was disappointed haha. Not easy finding ground that aint too wet here in chch....
Tonight I sense GOLD......!! (said that to myself last night too...)

Oh yeah...check out the cool as Hotwheels go kart! Stoked! That'll go on the shelf...

Out again last night as its was warm as for once!
For the 3rd hunt in a row I get the old shilling/sixpence combo! This time with 2 sixpence and a 4.3g sterling ring-rang up so wickedly high I thought it was going to be a scrap piece of metal for sure but it appeared to be a small object so I decided to have a look...

Nice mild night to get out with the dog to the park for a walk/treasure hunt!
Pretty good night on the finds. Within 10 mins had a medalette (left it at home doh!-dont even know what is was yet!), a florin and a thrup.
After about 2 hours had the collection shown in the photos-a florin/thrup in one hole combo, buttons, sixpences, bits of silver rings, nice old 1885 penny, half pennies, the whole kit and kaboodle.
High hopes as usual for GOLD, alas, foiled again....

Better keep my thread alive with another update...
Hooked up with coinnut for a looksy around at a place, not much going on so down the road to the 'hunted out place' and spot number8wire in the distance so catch up with him too. Worth having a look at his next post....
Couple of silver coins-1915 shilling and 1943 sixpence and a cool Police cape/cloak lion head clasp. Nifty.
Looks like we're rained out in chch for a coupla days now dagnammit. Happy hunting and keep getting out there!

Yea I only had a clue coz number8wire mentioned about one on here recently and saying about a police item so googled a coupla words and viola!
Not heaps of info online in my short search but they could be from Victorian times up til maybe the 1950's? We'll go with Victorian huh?!
There's another to find and I'm gunna find it!
