Righto here we go, another update and stuff to look at from the last 2 or 3 outings.
Monday was a fantastic day-up early and off into the rural outskirts. 1st location treated me ok with an old 1863 penny and 4 silvers then on the way back home stopped at another place and scored a mint half crown and a GOLD ring woop! Well hallmarked and I reckon the date is 1851, however cant find the maker...it looks like "AGG2" or "ACC2"... can anyone make it out?
Some other interesting bits are what I believe is a Fusiliers badge, various buttons-one with just a crown on it, a silver ring with again a maker I cant find, and my best find last night a Tigers Eye and Silver pendant-I really like it!

Keep getting out and posting for everybodies encouragement-the good stuff is still around!

EDIT- And a farthing!
Bah... stupid sideways pics lol

I had Sunday and Monday off work so did a blast to the coast in hope of digging a few nuggets-ha dream on mate. Mind you one piece is a chunky enough to call a nug in my books.

Got out last night for a detect in the park and scored some stuff.
Best find is a Life Saving medal with a name and date of 14-12-1938-will research and perhaps see if any relatives are around and may like it.
Found a rusty looking sixpence with this medal-thought it was the GOLD coin I was looking for at first!!
Another hole turned up a 1873 penny and three silvers and another hole had a shilling and thrup in it.
Not pictured is a brit 3d I seemed to have lost and an 1915 penny which I gave to Vladimir, a Russian passerby. After a quick chat he stumbled away down the path stoked as, saying "100 years old, wow man" in his heavy accent.

Jeez a few good posts by you lot and Im back to page 2 in show n tell haha

Got in a 3 hr hunt last night and was very surprised by the amount of coins and especially some nice old pennies n halfs! Looks like the kinda finds you got in the "good ol days" a coupla years back!

One interesting find is the 1872 "coin"- its bigger than a half and smaller than a penny (23mm) and although it has a coin type look on one side the other is just a ring of stars and it looks like it was a brooch or button? Why does it look so coin like but not on the other side??? Maybe its just some replica for patriotism?

Keep up the hunting guys n gals-some good stuff yous are posting

Was absolutely astounding to witness Number8wire unearthing the GOLD Sov's!!! If I ever see something that beats that....boy o boy!!

I had a good bit of luck myself finding a 1935 Threepence-being one of the rarest nz coins, never thought I'd find one detecting!!

Are you following the cleaning guide to coins from here http://www.anythinganywhere.com/info/clean.htm ?

I have to terrible looking coins I'm attempting to clean in cloudy ammonia atm and I was wondering if that is the best course of action.

Yup I just soak the silvers in cloudy ammonia (maybe 20mins for some clean ones and a bit longer for real dirty ones).
Some come out great but some of the old Brits just go grey and some dont clean up well, but generally very happy with the cloudy ammonia.
