Righto heres some pics. Also got a cool NZEF pin/hat badge. Going by the '2' I guess its the 2nd NZ Expeditionary Forces.
Chrischch-yup I have been digging just about anything in pulltab range lately hence heaps of rubbish, but last night a threepence was bang on pulltab, and I think I thought the Half sov was gunna be a threepence too. Never having found one I hoped I wasnt missing them but had a feeling they would be low 60's and I would always have a look!
There's another to find and I'm gunna find it!

Back to spot X last night for another look!
A few cool finds-nice old 3 groove lead slug, a copper ring (joined in silver by the looks-name of Sarah on it), possibly an 1800's paint tube/bottle lid (W&N London, England), small NZ Forces button and 5 silvers. One mid 1800's shilling to worn to date and a really sharp and shiny 1912 sixpence-hardly any wear but getting a few spots of the dreaded grey discolouration.
Also tried to get as good a close up of the half sov. Note the die crack just before the word Victoria. Piece of crap faulty coin, not worth anything. LOL!

Well hit Little Hagley yesterday to be under some trees incase it rained-which it didnt thanks!
Real tough going in there now. That said, Coinnut gets a fat as gold ring as his first target! Sweet!
Anyways I got my ususal buttons and musket balls but also 2 threepences and a beauty half crown. Love those huge behemoths of coins!!
Gunna have a look around North Hagley tonight near the roundabout if anyone sees this and wants to meet up. Ill be there from about 645-9.30ish.

What's the lighting like around that area? I'd be interested in getting out (if I can swing it) but being new, without a pin-pointer (at the moment) and not having much experience (it'd be my first outing really) I'm not sure the dark would make it much easier for me!

I think there is some lighting around there but you really need a headlamp to see well. Youll get along without a pinpointer if your detector has pin-point mode to zero in on it. I would recommend getting a garrett propointer when ya can tho it does make things a lot easier overall!
