One of my first finds was a royal visit medal/coin. Found in the backyard of my last house, also found a 1 Dinar coin - someone must have saved every metal tube of toothpaste and thrown them on the lawn there were hundreds of the suckers....

They weren't toothpaste tubes, they were Prep H.

Ewwww, but I will admit there were a couple of savlons thrown into the mix. Could have been Macleans me hemorrhoids.

Congrats on latest finds there Jason. The 1901 Duke & Duchess of Cornwall Visit aboard the HMS Ophir Souvenir is cool. I checked it out in the Morell's Medallic Commemoratives book. There are about 8 different versions of this medalette so it's pretty hard to define your one from the pic. They range from common (R1) to scarce (R4) in the "R" ratings and some of the differences between the versions is pretty subtle. They produced them in brass, copper, silver and gold.
Having magnified your pic, I think your one is one of the copper (?) maybe brass R4's......scarce. Very cool mate, well done.

Had a little hunt right in town on a riverbank last night. I can safely say it aint been done before, so many trashy signals!
I managed to find two threepences and a few 1800's pennies, plus what i think is a GOLD plated (guilded?) piece of something with rubies and sapphires! (perhaps).
Great little patch of weather for night hunting in CHCH, so I'll try for the elusive GOLD coin again tonight with a smaller coil!!
Pretty shitty photo sorry...

Good luck for the hunt tonight - Typically I'm between jobs at the moment and have the kids at home with me otherwise I'd be out turning some turf as well!

Cheers roy-Heres one for ya-I reckon I found a guilded medal holder tonight!
Hit a riverbank (best find a 1865 Clarkson and Turnball Timaru penny token!!) for two silvers incl the oldest of the finds at 1889 and a coupla pennies-first target was a 1866 in good nick-well compared to what condition pennies can get in the ground. Also a 1945 OZ h'penny
Also did a small area of Cranmer sq and culdnt believe finding 5 silvers in there and last hole was an old 1875 Heaton penny. Found a small Forces button with still the homemade cotterpin temporary fastner attached!
I think Im guna go out every night this week, its great night weather!!

nice one jason,be carefull in the squares [ both] i have had problems with people in there especially latimer square theres a house on the south east side with some rough young hoods that i had big problems one afternoon, keep to the north part of that site, its got lots of military bits in it,plus lots of tokens, although i worked it quite a lot,put your small coil on lots of trash, but its been resoiled over the years, things are deep, good luck.

Hey chrispy I didnt see ya post about tonight sorry man!
Went to North Hagley with coinnut and scored a bunch of coins and a few silvers-best being an 1877 3d. Also the thinnest of silver rings to add to the box'o'treasures.
Need to stop going out all night and make time for the important things-like gettin more cloudy ammonia haha

Good to meet you down there goldstalker-good luck while ya here!

Im on a bit of a roll at the mo and tonights treasures include GOLD!
A few interesting bits-a piece with egyptian bits on it, not sure exactly what the item is.
A cross (not silver) with ITALY on back.
The GOLD ring is a nice 5.2g. Prolly 9k but the stamp is not so sharp. All the rings i find look like this!
Possibly a cufflink with possible pearl inlay.
Nice silver coins..im in a little patch of silver!
