Glad I did tho, got my first half crown for a while, and its a 1935. Right beside it a 1949 half crown (doh)
Also got a rare-ish 1935 shilling and three threepences!
Coupla junk rings and a coupla aussie pennies.
Good times. Again with ice on the coil!

Hey chris, good choice i reckon on the goldbug. Will do everything you want with ease and for the price you can keep it forever even as a spare for a more expensive machine-plus the goldbug will find you stacks of cash to pay itself off.
Nowadays i really concentrate on the sound now i have some experience and almost look at the number second just to verify.
Anyhoos some common target numbers from my amateur, none-too-attentive (and at the present time a little jaded) memory.

nz florin last night about 2-3" down was solid 83
nz shillings 80
nz sixpence 72
nz 3d pretty jumpy-like 60-66
half crowns like 86

old brit silver pretty similar but will be about 4-6 higher mostly

good news i air tested a half sovereign at 61/62 and a sov at....hmmm what was it.... i think 72-i noted it in a thread about 'coinnuts' full sovereign, so good news you will probably be digging those numbers and wont miss out!

silver rings for a reasonable size are about 80

ive found only 9k rings and have been at pulltab numbers 66/68 and a couple at 70/72

hope that helps, hope you find i was mostly right!

good luck out there man and im sure will see ya soon enough!

There's another to find and I'm gunna find it!

Good shit, thanks mate. I had the F2 pretty sussed but the sound is far less important than it is with the goldbug. Have to learn how to pinpoint with this new coil too.
Can't wait to put it to the test. No doubt we will bump into one another for sure. I go down to Woolston park a lot. Have gotten some good treasures in there but it's full of decimals. Found both my best items there, a WW1 medal and a gold pocket watch 9k from 1933.

How many Christchurch forum members heard Foiled's shouts of joy? Bet it could be heard in every suburb! :)

Congratulations Mate. Full Sov is 7.9grams and close to the size of an old style 10c piece at 22mm dia.

Fantastic news Jase, you deserve some reward for the effort you put in. Was it deep?

Thanks guys! Well shes a half sovereign. Bit worn but still nice and Ill love her forever still haha!
I was by myself but the dog got a few excited pats!
I'll have to post a photo from work camera tomorrow as my cable for phone (only camera) is buggered!
Funny night it twas...started the first like hour with just rubbish, then got a deep 1875 penny, then four threepences, then a small love heart GOLD ring then hit the half sov!
It was like 62/63 on the gold bug showing 4 inches, which is about what it was so not too deep! I didnt have a clue it was gunna be a GOLD coin. Sweeet.
There's another to find and I'm gunna find it!

Good shit! What a good night for you! One to remember for sure. The (half) holy grail of NZ found coins. :)

EDIT: What made you decide to dig it being in the pull tab range? Have you been digging tabs or was there something that made the signal seem worth digging? Sixth sense? :)
