I had thought about going to the coast for GOLD fossicking Sun/Mon but decided to say in chch and do a few things. Got my boat out for sail Kinda-not much wind!) on a stunning Mothers Day in chch. Calm and about a balmy 20deg. took the detector with me to have a swing on the beach of a boat only access bay. There is an old school house from the 1800's just up from the beach. Didnt hunt too hard or long and only found bits of rubbish.
Today was a mesirable day but was at South Hagley for a morning of hunting with coinnut. Fisrt target within a minute was a shilling! Mint sart!
Quite a number of coins with just the shilling and a 1909 threepence of note. Also scored a beaut 5.3gram GOLD signet ring with nice hallmarks. A little hard to suss out with a quick look so I'll keep working on it...would post for something for you guys liking the research but phone dont do close ups lol.

Looking forward to getting down for a night hunt in South Hagley tomorrow night if anyone wants to make it. Im guna park opposite the sale yards between old blenheim rd roundabout and moorhouse. Ill be there from 7ish til say 9/930 ish.

Had a good little night hunt joined by fellow detecting addict coinnut on a very foggy one in chch!
Crazy but my first target was also my best one-a nice florin! Three silvers the best coins of the night.
Gotta love Hagley.

A bit of chatter coming back to the forum it seems!

Had the fine privalege of meeting up with coinnut and chrispy today as we tackled mothernature and history in our never ending quest to unearthen long buried treasures.
A suburban park and little hagley would prove to be worthy adversary.

Got me stuff. Best finds were a great 1877 threepence, a broken but complete stg silv ring with probably onyx stone? and a friggin awesome looking Dorcas ch 10 silver thimble, if I can be so girly.

Heres somthing interesting indeed-got a button with ballantyne & co stamp and i reckon its Boer war issue for rushed supplies of military uniforms (1899).

There you go.

I shouldna been soo lazy on my day off today and got out there for some treasurehuntin, but was expecting fire and brimstone with snow which hasnt come yet!! Mmm actually might head down to Hagley with the headlamp...
Anyhoo, awesome club meeting yesterday-those party girls shoutin us drinks and taking their tops off was unexpected...what to expect next time wooah...
Just joshin'.
I got a coupla interesting finds last night with an Australian (+Allies) peace victory medal marking the end of WW11 (1945) and a 'Cheney B'ham' British Army general issue button (prolly WW11). Two threepences made up the nice collection. But too many goddam 1's n 2's-bloody 27 of em!

Sweet finds mate. Gotta love those obscure little medal and button finds. Just proves that most of the larger old suburban parks held Victory Parades for their local communities back in the day........gotta be more there I suspect. Congrats on your haul of treasure.
