Nice lot of finds there Foiled.
Congrats on the Gold too.

Re: NZR cap/shoulder badge (ww1 NZ Rifles)

Is it Rifles or Rail?
I thought NZ Rail had a very similar hat badge.

Hi Mk. My first thought when I dug it was NZ Rail, but it looks the same as a NZMR (mounted rifles) one I scored ages ago, and thanks to google I'm pretty sure its Rifles
There's another to find and I'm gunna find it!

Oh OK, but isn't this one is NZR not NZMR ?

scroll down to the bottom of the page.

There was an NZMR camp quite close to my home but unfortunately it has been in houses for about 15 years now.

Yup this one is NZR and is exactly the same style as a NZMR 'mounted rifles' one I found, so am sure this one is NZ Rifles and not NZ Rail.
Its a bloody bugger when historical places get built on by industry or houses!

Had a walk around Little Hagley after work. Not much left in there incl rubbish!
Managed 3 threepence incl a Victorian 1891 and 3 musket balls, some weird looking clasp thing (might have writing-will clean), a slug that hit a tree or something, $2 and after wandering around thinking "no pennies here" a nz penny lol

man-not a great photo, better work on that

Nice one Jason, you're on a bit of a roll with gold it seems.

P Bear is in the process of moving and apparently his detector is at one house and his digger at the other. He is presently scratching his head, mumbling to himself and walking in circles trying to figure out what to do about it.

I am amazed at what you have found some very nice items indeed.

May I be so bold as to ask what you do with the items once you have found them? looking at some of the pictures here there are some nice collector pieces. Also with some of the dates on the more common coins there are little errors not always listed in the catalogues that people like myself love to collect. Even looking at those last photos posted the 1946 threepence looks interesting if the clipped damage on the coin happened when it was made it could be what's called a clipped planchet error coin. This does not mean its worth a heap more but something interesting as chances are its a one off error.

Anyway guess I am just interested as to what ppl do with the coins and other items they find :-)

Hey TH
I just hoard everything I find. Cheers and you're right we all come upon some pretty cool things out there. I love finding old coins especially.
Definitely getting harder but if it was easy everyone would be doin it-hang about, everyone in chch IS doin it lol
Look forward to seeing some of ya finds if ya gettin out there amongst it!

Just checked out that threepence and it looks mowered haha but thanks for sharing your knowledge.
I reckon you'd do well getting the F75-I know a guy that is super successful with one and itl be my choice when I upgrade my goldbug

Went out after work yesterday down to Hagley-been a week or more so needed a fix!
I always have a target of two silvers but after walking a line for a while didnt really look good. Did a wide turn to head back to car and scored the two sixpences in one hole-yay!
Halfway back scored this solid and heavy copper ring which is interesting as someone has carefully fitted the tiki from the centre of a halfpenny onto the ring. Bit unique!
Then almost back at the car and dig a shallow but old looking bent up 925 ring. Sweet.
Got some pennies n halfs and all from a bit of Hagley thats been well searched....keeps the hopes alive!!
