All the best out there this year you fullas! Be good.

I went out for a hunt at Hagley on the 2nd Jan and got a nice ring marked STG and some kind of pinkish stone and a NZ threepence. Nice start.
Last night had a look on the Avon river bank and was surprised at the number of 1 & 2c peices. Couple old pennys and a half and a thin 925 chain with little silver ringlets. Found a NZ threepence and from barely an inch down an 1896 sixpence. Lots of signals obviously trashy area but sometimes something makes you dig and you turn up an unexpected treasure!

Wow been a month since I posted in my thread. Getting my laptop back soon after being busted for like 6 months so should post regularly with pictures again. Hopefully some good finds to keep the masses amused and enthused lol
Anyway went to my local big park tonight with an aim of 'just a quick hunt'. After an hour had only found $2 and a heap of 1&2c pieces. I hate not finding at least a bloody penny so persevered for another half an hour. Had my pointy 10 inch elliptical coil still on (to lazy to change from gold huntin last week) so got it up between roots next to a tree and got a solid signal. Cool-better dig this 2c out I spoze. About 2 inches down flipped out a nice 1928 aussie sixpence! Sweeet. Then got a penny so left satisfied!
There's another to find and I'm gunna find it!

LOL I know the feeling, I went to the local park at lunch today and found a few 1 and 2 cents and a couple of crusty pennies. I really needed to get going but felt like I had to find something good first. Then I found a dollar and being satisfied was heading back to the car and right in front of the passenger side door found a couple of nice pennies and silver florin. Then I felt like I should grid search the area, but I figured as long as I got back there before Poohbear did I should be alright.

Heck, well done Jason!! Specially on that goldie!!
Keeping that little coil on has clearly been a masterstroke for you working those trashy areas.

My greatest fear is that when I die my wife will sell my collection for what I told her it cost me.

I'll say Simon! Glad I've left the little elliptical coil on I've had a good run last coupla times!
I can't figure out from the stamp what the signet ring is but I guess it's 9ct. Has the obligatory three initials on it and I guess the stone is garnet. Inside someone has hand scratched in 'Jan 1969'.
I bought a Keene sluice yesterday and have found GOLD already lmao.

Great finds, and to think I'm stoked with 2 coins and some nails. How deep do you dig for these finds as I was down around 400mm and still had a strong signal but wasnt sure how far down to go before giving up.

Most of these were between 3 & 7 inches kev. At 400 deep and still buzzing it mighta been a pipe?! (drain pipe-note the other type!)
Does yr machine have discrimination or digital display or just a meter and beep? My first detector was just a beep n go-ok for the odd penny but all the crap as well! Not necessarily a bad thing digging all signals and crap-cleans up the area and 'you just never know...!'

My machine does have discrimation but very tricky to set correctly, thats why I'm after some practical guidance, and also has a needel type display cunningly placed so that you cant see it if you are holding the handle (slight design fault me thinks). veriable tone from both the speaker or the headphones but I think I'm too keen to listen properly, just dig & see instead.
