Nice finds there Rgmcbrid. There the type of shots i like to see. I havent found a ring since the GOLD one a month ago. Getting withdrawl now. Action shots are good in the sence that mostly we all post what weve found at the end of the day only. Location shots are difficult in the sence that we dont want to show the world exactly where we are or where we wouldnt normally be. And its a forum, not face book like some members treat it (like that creamer guy...), so dont see alot of faces. Im goin to figure out next how to use the timer so i can get some on scene detectoring shots.

Hi Guardian. What size coil you got on your At Pro. Mines a 8.5''x 11'' elliptical Double-D searchcoil.

Hi Shane, I have the massive 5"x8" coil, which is great in playgrounds and of course around rocks but in a big field it's like RSI ( I can never remember the new term - OOS?) waiting to happen!

This sucker would be the go for the parks/fields

Coil NEL BIG 15"x17" for Garrett ACE and all this could be yours for a small one time off payment of US$250

Sizey looking coil indeed. Seen them on aussie videos searching for GOLD in the outbacks. Imagine buzzing around Hagley with one of these.

#45 trip. The site is giving me plenty to do with 55 coins found yesterday. A personal best there yet with a total now of 203 coins all up. Was finding coins in a circle around a concrete block until i twigged..ah, this is the old clothsline, ding ding. Maybe 12 or so finds here. The gridding system is working well here as im covering the large lawn area now. 5 goldies, 55 coins all up and a bullet head. One coin was a cupronickel 1947 NZ sixpence. The bird on these coins is a Huia bird.

You're doing well Shane, clothes lines are the best!!!
I went to a school today, 3 playgrounds later at the same school came up with wait.......10c
some sod obviously bet me to it. What they didn't do was go to the tiny little park across the road.
$21 in goldies later and a child's 925 silver ring I was pretty happy. The park down the road (that I had been told was cleared and I had been over when I first got the detector) gave me another $4.20 not a bad day.

Excellant haul from that spot Guardian. A .925 is a real bonus on any hunt. Hit such a spot last night in the rain. This spot has big covers but still i put a plastic bag over the aces main unit, headphones on, hat on backwards because of the headlamp and into it. 1 hour it took to swing the whole lot. One of those waterproof At Pros would of been the go in the rain on missions like that. Hmmm.

#46 trip. A regular haunt that i know has produced 50 coins to date. Last nights mission was in the rain. 8 x goldies and a .310 bullet casing.

Cheers Shane.
One of my best hunts was in the rain, no interruptions, easy to dig (would have been a good day for knee pads though), I didn't realize how cold I was until I took the earphones off or how hard it was raining to be honest. Yes having a waterproof machine is good, the number of times I nearly killed my old mans Ace 250 in a river in one day made me think that I would hate buying a new machine and drowning it probably on the first outing knowing my luck! I have been toying with the idea of getting an AT Pro. I really love the AT Gold and thought well ok I need a bigger coil plus I've changed my mind on beach hunting and I don't really want to learn the ID sounds and numbers of a different brand (still am partial to a Fisher F4 as a second machine) soooo an AT Pro would give me the larger coil that I could use on the AT Gold, it's waterproof and works great at the beach. Guess I need to find a new job quick, of course then I'll have no time to hunt... it's a tough world sometimes! *8^)

The only jobs that comes to mind metal detecting involve pipes or land mines - darn it!

I have been wearing knee pads lately. If the ground it soft I usually don't kneel and just dig fast and move on, but if it is hard and I end up having to kneel it wears on the knees after a while.

Strangely enough Robert I actually meant to keep me from getting my jeans wet in the squishy ground *8^)
However I am amazed at how much the ground here changes sooo much from suburb to suburb so might as well start looking after the old knees! I have some old, very good quality rollerblading ones (I know, I know) that I used motocross riding so I might need to dust them off, maybe some $6 ones from bunnings but I'm just not sure if bright red would fit with the rest of my gear, I have an appearance to up hold after all!!! *8^)

An excert from;
How to Find Lost Treasure by C. Garrett

True, youll probably never actually grow tired of discovering coins and treasures of any age...no mattter how many you find in parks and playgrounds. But, youll get so much more pleasure and larger rewards from recovering old and rare treasures in places you have located through your own desire and careful investigative efforts. You can only grow even more enthusiastic as your rewards increase!
One important technique i learned personally and from talking with successful treasure hunters is to be patient. If at first you arent finding much treasure, dont fret; be persistant. Keep searching and try to continually improve your skills. I assure you that your efforts will be rewarded. By the time you have hunted treasure for 100 hours, your abilities to find treasure will produce results that will amaze and astound you. Keep at it!

It goes beyond the amagination as to what some may think. Im finding it hard to anwser that thought myself..
Nice one Madsonic and good to see your next thread.

#47 trip. Buzzing around trees in a park was differant yesterday in the fact that its a little more open and public. The beer lids and alluminum was everywhere and the signal for beer lids varys so do you dig them or not, yes. So far im use to the open beachs and back blocks. Still raining so ive encased the aces control box with a plastic bag and tape. Either that or i will have to wait another week for the rain to stop. Cant see myself waitin cos im hard into it at the moment. 4 x goldies. 8 coins all up.

Dan - your question

"haha wonder what a detectorist would look like at night from a distance in the rain" - the answer I can only assume is that he would look like a Parasite form the moon - a 'Luna-tic'

Shane

Great going - the modern coins would almost make it all pay for the day out, travel costs - if you get much more you will end up with a money bin full of treasure - a bit like Scrooge McDuck come to think of it. Keep it up Shane - I like seeing what you guys are getting - it makes me jealous - unfortunately I am introverted so dont like being seen going beep beep around Public places though have seen Guardian in the park behind my place looking for his fortune.

Dont sell any of the silvers Shane - 'Daily Wealth' and 'Wealth Daily' both financial forecast sites seem to indicate that silver is a must to own so the best of the best to keep.

Ill be keeping those silvers for sure. Your exactly right. Store them up. There true value is yet to be relised as is GOLD. When you look at us finding stuff and think that would be cool, droul, . we hear what your finding and that beutiful country side and droul ourselves. And you can actually detect for GOLD there, so awesome.
Oh yes, a grown man, in the dark, 10 oclock at night, in the rain, buzzing a playground could only mean one thing.. an extraterestrial.
