#42 trip. The site 13. Went down to my favorate site today and enjoyed an hour or two there. The ground is so hard and dry that i had to chip my way to the finds. My thumb is still buzzing from holding the garden scoop to dig the hard soil. 1 goldie, 17 coins all up and a piece of a knecklace which i thought may have been a big find at first. Took my time escavating it just in case, again in the very hard dirt.

17 coins. A 1945 NZ sixpence. An english new pence 10p and two NZ shillings.

Oh yes, is this going to be a mega find...

Shane that chain looks like silver to me because even when in the ground it looks quite clean.
Is there a .925 mark on it anywhere?

No stamp on this one Metalkiwi. It has some sort of silver plating. I havnt found a good chain yet but would like to, wouldnt we all.
Had a txt chat with Madsonic last night. Great to make contact with you Dan.
And yes Gnut, it was a good move by the government to use iron in the new coins...not. Shameful in a way as they dont preserve that well. And they let out suspect signals just to confuse you when hunting. They came up mostly as iron so i dug them anyway because i was on the beach and not finding much.
Bit of talk lately about the new garrett at pro gold. Want one, but do i really need one is the question. A want and a need are two differant things. One thing is for sure ,i dont have 1200 bucks, yet. Need that GOLD ring fairy to be extra generous.
Nice finds to you guys.

#43 trip. The site intensifies as ace and i jackhammer thru the hardpack gravel driveway area for 11 coins. Was aiming for 10 coins, swung around and there was the eleventh one sitting on the surface. Amazing to find coins 3 inches or so down here as this paticular area is really like diggin cement. 11 coins all up and half a key.

Nice to see you've gone for a better shovel! I used to use the same foldup one that you did until it broke... so I bought another for just $3! and that one broke the first time I used it!!! so now I use that same one you have now... it is a much better shovel! nothing more annoying than going to dig and your shovel bends!!! ARG!!!!!!

As for a trowel I took one of those black plastic scoops from bunnings and drilled 7mm holes in it. works great in sand and it is still sturdy as.

Are those nickels you found? That just proves that you can detect any where! lol good on you shane!

I get the feeling a few of us have that same shovel. Funny what we dig up, I too found a wing nut the other day, found a door lock as well. Today at a different location I found a door knob, probably find the metal garage door next *8^)

I've noticed that the new 10c coins don't seem to last very well at all!
Talking about coins I learnt something new, don't leave American 1c in white vinegar or they end up like Swiss cheese opps.

BTW your pic looks like it's straight from the Garrett site, are you sure you're not on the take Shane???

Good work!

Hi there Drunkenbrother and Gnut. Yes my new mcgregors shovel is the go and retails at around 16 dollars. Seems to be very popular. No nickels here just an american 5 cents.
Cheers Poohbear, would truely like to be down your way if i could, eventially i will and theres always room here too for you.
Hi Guardian. Not on the take (tho that sounds like a great idea). I guess im fairly blazay about posting the best pics i can. Proud of my ace and it makes for great photos. After that messy stuff a week or so ago i have opted to conduct myself in a more semi professional way to the best of my ability. Yes i think we all have the same shovel so must be a good thing.
Cheers Chrisyboy, good to see you posting.
Nice finds to you all.

#44 trip. Moved to the other end of the site to wot was the lawn area. When i arrived yesterday the whole site had been freshly mown. Wot a bonus. Like the last trip i found the last coin on the surface. Same thing yesterday i found the last coin (an old 20 cent piece) lying on the surface freshly struck by the mower. 1 goldie, 20 coins all up and a go cart.

You should be proud of your machine, it looks like it's working hard for you. Have to say I like the look of that large DD coil of yours, would save me having to do half steps - probably looks like I'm dancing with a broom from a distance!

They are good pics Shane, you've got a good eye!
