Great find - I love it...I think that if I had found that I might have removed the framed Scorpion and Tarantula from above my wifes spot in the bed and replaced them with the shooter so that she had to stare at it instead of the nasties which shes got used to!

Finds like that just have that certain elliment about them. The thrill of an old time toy comes rushing back. Navy colt ah, dont want to get you started but the day i saw my first colt dragoon i was hooked. Mmmm, colt dragoon.
I was impressed with that double barrell recently posted, i rememder them, they were always cool. ( real character that guy..) Nice one Lammerlaw.

#60 trip. Down to the site for an hour after work. Buzzed along the front near the road and bingo, a 1942 silver shilling in mint condition. Totally overcome with excitement (and beer) i whipped out the camera for a closeup. I enjoy the photos neally as much as the finds. Also, i found another scouting badge, blue enamel and GOLD plate. I guess theres still heaps to be found at the site. A 1942 shilling, 12 coins all up and a scouting badge.

Nice clean silver there Shane.
Just wondering if the blue badge is possibly a Girl Guides badge
instead of a scout badge.

Hi Shane

Went out with the Mrs on Wednesday first park we stopped at and she dug out $9 of goldies
and I well.. I found a dollar and what I thought was a $2coin, was feeling pretty stink, got back to the car and it turned out to be a 100 Peso Coin also found a 1964 United States 5c which is interesting (Nickels dated 1964 were still being minted well into 1966, contributing to their very high mintages. Mintmarks were temporarily suspended 1965–1967.) This one doesn't have a mint mark so must be one of the extended mints. Shame it doesn't make it worth more!
Anyways these are most of the internationals I've found, not much value (100 Peso NZ$28) but I like them because they are different there is a Yugoslav 1 Dinar missing thanks to one of my young children, no one has currently owned up surprise surprise. The one in the pic is where it would be if I could find it! Thanks Photoshop!
Pic is small due to someone blowing our internet cap, strangely enough no one has owned up to this either!

Happy Hunting!

Oh yeh Madsonic, i chipped down 2-4 inches to get to the targets, cant believe the ace finds them. It takes hours just to dig a few hits. Ive done half of it, the other half can wait till another time because chipping in there isnt a lot of fun.. Im finding the scouting badges here.
Im out close to the footpath on the main road now and thats where i found the shilling. I guess if your going to grid a place you might as well get everything and all the good stuff seems to be at this top half of the place. Eight more coins and that will be 300 out of there.

Hi there Guardian. That horse coin is cool. Wheres that from?

#61 trip. A few hours at my new hot spot and it was a 'Glory Lane' of old coins (and sinkers) the oldest being a 1910 penny. Cant wait to do the rest of this narrow beach area. Now that ive figuered out im living in history central i know just where to go. Look out GOLD sovn here i come..
One find of particular interest is an old copper fishing lure which seems to of been factory made not home made. I like it as its differant and cool, a real treasure. Another interesting find is what appears to be a lead sinker with binding on it. Probably say that thats all it is as it has a rusted steel core. Found a good mix of old coins, 3 pennys, a half penny, a florin, a shilling, a sixpence and two threepences. I found these two 3p's in the same hole. One hole i had to dig 3 or 4 times to clean it out. (That must be a 'Glory Hole'). 1 goldie, a silver nz 1933 threepence, 30 coins all up, an old style lure and tonnes of lead of all shapes.

..the oldest being a 1910 penny

Hi Shane
Well if you get sick of detecting at least you have plenty of sinkers to go fishing with.
That spinner is pretty cool!

The horse is from Ireland and has a harp on the flip side with a lot of fine detail on a simple design.

#63 trip.
Getting a feel of this new area with a trip with the misses to check out the old boat landing. Great place, had a buzz around and found the odd coin. We didnt stay long and went to my previous spot which is also an old boat ramp area. Found more there than what i expected. First thing i found was a William IV 1834 .925 silver sixpence. Thought it was a 1854 penny until we got home and checked it over. It has blackened over the years but is still ok. Then i found two old brotches, one of a sailing ship the other a love heart design. And next, get this, two 1950 half crowns buried close to each other, a penny, a sixpence and a threepence. The excitement is too much. It will be hard to sleep tonite as i will probably stay up staring at the finds..
Again, in case you missed it, an 1834 silver sixpence.
3 goldies, 2 half crowns, an 1834 sixpence, two brotches, tonnes of sinkers again, 23 coins all up.
