I guess we learn something every day - on the goldfields years ago amongst Davis painkiller bottles I found a bottle that said 'Ellimans Embrocation for Horses Manufactuory Slough' - for years up to this moment I wondered what 'Horses Manufactory Slough' was - it was only when I read of the Ellimans bottle found that I decided to do some research and find that the sentence actually meant two things 'Ellimans Embrocation for Horses' - and it was made at their 'Manufactory' in 'Slough' - we live and we learn.

A man could have spent his life looking for a Horses Manufactuory Slough in the days before the internet.

Tonznz I have hunted a few local beaches but I haven't found anything that predates me yet. I have lots of spots that I have marked down as worth a detect, just need to get to them. I think my next detector will be an underwater one - I have a couple of theories I would like to test.

Nothing wrong with scrap metal. I used a stash of scrap metal I pulled while working at the local land fill to buy my detector.

Yes, I prefer to hunt when there arent many people around also. Saves having to stop and explain and answer the same questions a hundred times. What are you looking for? Have you lost something? How much have you found? Can I have some money? etc etc Drives me up the bloody wall! lol

I could do with a beach hunt. Damn near flattened a guy today, he was trying to provoke me and it didn't go to well for him. I'm not exactly the easiest person in the world to get worked up but when I do, I suffer from short man syndrome.
I followed him home so I might leave a little present of all the rubbish from the park in his letterbox.... Ok probably not but I'd like to!

Today I went back to the spot (my secret beach) and found an old english six pence, with a young queen victoria head. Finally this old beach is paying off with old coins. I'm soaking it in ammonia until it cleans up so I can read the date. I'll post a photo when it looks half decent. Also sold my scrap from the last five or six trips today $82. cool. Here is the NZ large dollar coin 1967 cleaned up. 38mm wide with writing on the edge "July 10 1967 decimal currency introduced" . Not worth much I know but cool to find.

Yup...very cool find!! That must rung out like a cannon on your earphones!!
