Not that I am a coin cleaning expert (did some yesterday for the first time) but before I used CLR I would try ammonia. The reason being that ammonia is a weak base and theoretically should not damage the metal in coins. CLR is an acid and could damage the coins. From what I read on the link Tonz provided a good strategy is to alternate between ammonia and acid with really crusty coins, but going easy on the acid.

Nice goin Tonz. I would have ripped her apart to. There is a special spray for switches and it evaporates away so it doesnt condensate. We use crc on our guitar amp switches and such. I wouldnt say use that on a detector tho, im no expert. Good to see you posting. GOLD is good.

Tonz, when you take scrap in do you have to seperate it? I have a bucket with brass/bronze and copper in it and I can't really tell them apart. I am cleaver enough to pick out the lead but that is about it.

Yeah you do....you can always give me a yell when you in chch next and i'll show you how and/or do it for you. The biggest dealers are only 5 mins from my house also.
Basically heavy things like taps, pipe fittings, etc are brass and copper is normally thinner (in sheets or part of) and will have a more pronounced green colouring. Obviously some copper will be pipe. Even if you post some pics and number each item, I could poss identify which is which for you.
Hope that helps somewhat?
