Well, ignoring the pre 1920 british ones (and pre 1944 Aussies), they're 50% silver so 5kg of coins will have 2.5kg of silver =~ 80 troy ounces. So today about NZ$3100

have a nice time up there, look forward to seeing your posts. What are the South Dunedin market's like ? Been meaning to come along maby have a stall, problem being I keep letting my stuff go too cheaply and don't have much stock anymore so have to wait for it to accumulate before I can make it worth while. I would like to see your coins that you are selling, let us know when you are next having your stall again. Merry christmas and happy new year.

You will probably find it is the same issue as with retrieving golf balls at a local golf club - the care takers son had rights to all the lost balls (and the revenue from them) and anyone else caught trying it was given a short shift.

I wouldn't know about that - or about fending the eels off as they came investigating the disturbance ;)

Nice silver Tonz.
Lucky getting two at once eh.
Unfortunately your clues are way to vague to guess where you were dammit.

I can think of a few places near me that are like that... and if you are in Auckland right now I wonder if you are hitting some of the same spots... and if that is so I must be missing out! those are awesome finds! 1800's and florins! I would have been wetting myself! We should have a hunt if you are still in the area... hint hint... lol
