Clean coins from the beach? How does that work? I have kind of lost interest in being anywhere near the beach because even the silvers are so chewed up from corrosion. Have some in ammonia now and they are all blisters and pits.

The ones I have been working on that are very disapointing wee not actually on the beach, but in sandy soil near the beach. NZPB and I spent several hours on the beach last weekend and came up with nothing but bottle caps. I think rather than undercutting the sand has been building up. Should probably try another beach.

ya but we were only at one part of a very very long beach...lol....and i would say that we wernt at any of the parts that ppl hung out in by what we found..
there are many surf clubs along that beach and alot of ppl hang out and swim around those areas...we just have to do the history and find the best spots to hunt..

and also look for the cuts where the sand has been chewed away at....you have to remember..we found nothing at that spot but further up the beach is were i found all those old Fake coins and you found a few..and in respect to how big the beach is the 2 spots wernt that far apart from each other.

I suppose that plate has to be silver. Have you got a magnifier to read the marks? Looks a bit big for a watch plate and I wondered if maybe from a music box. The marks should allow you to trace the maker.
