Who the hell is Louis L'Amour - OK I will confess to having 82 different Westerns written by him! There is only one or two I dont have! make me a handsome offer for a real genuine Navy Colt! Also have a Spencer and a Sharps as well as other US of A guns - might be because my grandfather was a yankee.

Dunedin trip - Well rgmcbrid (robert) and I took a trip down to dunedin for the national rock and mineral show..we spent 3 nights at the duneidin holiday park...It was a great trip....we had a table set up selling a few rocks and a display of the metal detectors robert sells....It was great to run into Graham (lammerlaw) again..Sorry we missed the invite to come up mate but we will be down for a visit..also it was Great to meet Matt (1864Hatter) and his friend.
Also it was a pleasure to meet and detect with you Tony (tonznz) the first night at the beach was a bust with only 2 coins found by me and 1 by robert..But the second night I hit the jackpot..lol....5 silvers in total 2 X nz thrupence 2 X British thrupence and a nz sixpence...along with all the other coins..

Now i have never found a gold ring with my detector yet so i buried my wedding ring in the sand and tested my signals...then i got smart and leaving it buried i called robert over to test this UNKNOWEN signal i had found but HADNT dug up yet as i wanted to see what his machine would pick it up as...lol....after he went over it he said it sounded like a six pence so i said cool..i WASNT sure what it was with my machine..lol...so he signaled for me to dig it up...i said naw you go ahead...Well i almost had a heart attack when he slamed his scoop into the dirt..lmao..thinking did he hit my ring... so he dug it up and when he saw it he asked me to hold my hand out and he dumped it into my hand..his eyes lite up as he saw the GOLD RING..lol...and i said oh cool..nice find...then he realized my ring wasnt on my figer..We had one hell of a big laugh as he thought he hit a good one...hahaha..and he swears he is going to get me back..lol....
All in All it was a great weekend and a pleasure meeting you all from the forum that we met.

Hi Chris - yes it was great to catch up - pity you didnt get up to the house - I baked scones to! - you would have got a hell of a fright - the only difference between my house and the garbage dump is that my house is untidier but will catch you guys up when you come down to look for some gold in a few weeks - three or four.

I didnt get home until late as we cleaned up and sorted the place out - I ended up buying a few rocks but not as much as I thought I would. Once you have found your first gold nugget then you might get hooked on it and end up living in Dunedin!!! A lot of good gold has been found not all that far from Dunedin - back in the gold rush days some of the biggest nuggets in Otago were found only just over half an hours drive away.

Hi there Poohbear. Nice to see all your finds layed out. Some of those rings look cool, most of mine are quite plain. Would like to find one of those big narley ones. Specially if its gold... Interesting button type find you have there. Cool cabinet and now we know wot you look like...sort of...lol. How many rings you have all up.

Nice one. Rings are cool. Ive worked out approximately, i think, that one would find 1 ring per 40 odd coins. Something like that.

Kool Finds, well done. I will have to catch up in ChCh sometime and get some tips on how to use my AT Pro dector as it is my first one and it all sounds squeeks and beeps to me at the moment. My Mother lives in Redcliffs so could possible look at sumner beach or taylors mistake.
