Yes, trees are the go. Had a small buzz around at work yesterday. Walked straight up to a tree and ding, a coin (5 cent piece). The main man there said he would move the posts lying under there so i could check the tree properly.

yeah thanks guys trees are awesome hunting
grounds,the bigger and older the better,i find most of my
finds around trees,parks etc.more pics of latest stuff,
starting to add up to some serious finds.

so far i have 2kg copper,
15kg lead,8kg brass,
over 4kg nz coins,
jars of misc,bottles
and junk, not bad for a $70.00
homemade lunchbox detector.

WAY TO GO!!!!! Looks like the areas that you are hitting do not get much "detecting time" by others... lucky you! I am planning a lunch detect today during my lunch break if I can. It's been WAY too long since my last detect.

I have been spending a bit of time researching for a good spot to check and I will try and hit that spot today... hope to find some old coins!

found this under a tree root that had
grown right over the middle had to
carfully extract took about 15mins.
