Sometimes I really think there is luck involved. The beaches are big and you need to put the coil over the target! You have a powerful machine (same as max) and I wish I had one! From my reading one of the deepest available. Wet sand and no targets is good.... when you get one, it is likely good (or a sinker)

Nice finds DMNZ. The indian ring shows the ancient indian symbol used long before nazi times. Very nice.

Dale is Detectoholic.

6 RINGS...6 DAYS IN RAROTONGA

Heading home on the bus from the airport and wanted to tap out an update on the trip and initial thoughts having used both machines (CTX AND ATX) in the island waters for a few days!

The trip was overall pretty hard - not that many targets.

Over the course of six days (bad weather for 3) - I managed to find three gold rings (14k wedding band, 9k white gold and yellow gold with several small diamonds mens band and a 14k females diamond ring (two stones). Three silver rings. And roughly 100 coins (many in the same range as gold (12:24 or so on the CTX).

Overall the ATX performed well. Aside one day it was just unstable so needed to totally reset and then pull the batteries.

Some other little hiccups:

- despite washing the ATX in the shower after each hunt. One of the screws on the end of the machine beside the headphone connector is rusted. Will replace with stainless, just don't think we should have to do this in my opinion!

- 2nd (and this may be a blessing in disguise) the ATX shaft when opening - I think the middle one - can now be totally removed from the shaft above). Will be easier to post a picture. There is a THIN plastic sleeve that acts as a 'stopper'. With a little use you may find your ATX shafts can 'over extend' and pull out.

This may be useful for those of us contemplating modifying the shaft anyway if you have an ATX. ( see my posts after infinium ls DD coils).

Overall a good trip. Photos to come!

Used both machines as on the bad weather days the water was just too murky to dig everything! (Was more selective with the CTX) being VLF rather than a "nail finder PI" (in the words of Max)

😊

Had a quick hunt today after work on the wet sand on a beach I have been to quite a lot! Last few hunts proved hopeless, and today was getting really frustrated, having found a ton of junk, and a really worn penny - albeit only there for 1 hour! About to call it quits and then a faint signal......

dug and turned out to be a nice 14k (585) female gold and sapphire ring (4 wee diamonds)...yahoo! pretty small and fits the wife, so she's happy!

Then another dodgy, DODGY signal...didnt sound good....what the hell, lets dig anyway. Saw a silver coloured ring.....but, hmmm, it's just too heavy.....I assumed it was white gold and called it a day, drove home to clean up!

home and cleaned and checked the hallmarks....950 platinum, maybe 12-13 grams! YAHOO!

photos to come!
