Back to Orewa Beach again yesterday and today for an hour or so....few more pennies and some more silver

1935 sixpence x2
1946 3d
1946 shilling
1935 shilling (rarer) one?

Some kind of army dog tag (need to use electrolysis to get the crap off). Pennies pretty deep and corroded. Interesting the XP Dues seems great on DRY and small fine items / rings. Ctx is deeper but maybe misses the smaller items? Trying to hunt each area 2x to work out the pros and cons of each machine.

Actually thinking about it I would have thought bad language, racialism, personal attack or religous abuse would be time for action from a Moderator but Security reasons sounds more like Censorship to me. Not sure. Any others got a comment?
For all we know now DMNZ may have been kindly posting a map of where to find a cache of Sovs. Grrrr.

Easy to find the stash of sov's - just look for that big X marked out on the ground.... :)

Max, being fast enough to read the deleted post I assume you are worried about security at the location rather then all of us beating you to it?
(and I wish I could go there!)

Does seem a little bit like abuse of the old 'mod powers' to me, unless it was pointing to private or claimed land of course.

I don't really see the need to remove information of/on public resources or locations, then again I'm not up that way nor am I the type that would withdraw any kind of potential lead to reduce competition and satisfy my own greed.

Guys,
please stop guess work.
i removed the post due to SECURITY risk for Dale and Me... Actual risk, nothing to do with metal detecting.

Close friends know what is happening, others will know later on.

This post was the only one i ever removed from actual members.

Please no more comments or questions.

To completely change the subject. ..(secret map! Kidding) my daughter tidied up my finds for the last 3 or so months....massive bag of pennies and 400 dollars approx of 1&2 dollar coins! Off to her bank split with my son I suspect! Amazing how they add up!

Hi guys...have not posted for ages as tied up before Christmas with work...had a few weeks off and a 13 day trip - mostly detecting in the cook islands.

Aside from an average of 30 - 35 nzd per day in coins (enough for a decent lunch)....spent most of the time in the water! Detecting with the ctx 3030.

Some of the finds....

12 rings of which.....

6 are gold!

- white gold 750 mens wedding band - cool ring!
- white gold Irish large mens band
- wave design mens 9ct band - looks new!
- 18ct ( I think) large plain mens band
- 9ct band with 3 white diamonds (one just fell out!)
- smaller 9ct woman's plain band

3 silver rings.... darn it!

1 titanium ring...... also darn it!

A few junk rings including one with a large fake diamond:(

But the best of all...

A pure 24ct .999 gold chain. ..roughly 40 grams...chain alone!

The good thing was the chain was "balled" cross not attached so a good strong signal. Most rings greater than 10 inches deep...very very weak signals....

Can anyone identlfy the language on the cross???

Ctx 3030 seal gave way and main battery died! Despite really being careful to clean and insert the seal again daily... may have to send to minelab (battery).

Lucky had the A A battery as a spare....or would have killed the trip! Leaked early on in the first or second hunt! Detector turned off....coil not detected....main battery seems unable to charge. ...
