Nice one! Who would have thought eh. Imagine the finds awaiting to be found on the thousands of kilometres of grass strips out in the country in NZ.

Cheers Roy. You are correct for the British army however, in the NZ army it is apparently the collar badge for the New Zealand Engineer Corps.

Quick hunt this morning before the heaven's opened up.
Nothing spectacular but did get myself a bucket-lister......a Ford Model T valve stem cover. Our American counterparts seem to get pretty excited when they find one of these. Cool to be able to tick this one off the list.
Also dug a neat old toy Austin MK2 Radio Truck. These were produced by Lesney toys from 1960 to 1965.
........and an 1874 penny in nice nic for good measure.

Going stir crazy in the wet out camping, so braved the stinging horizontal rain to hit a well hunted location for a few hours. Got totally soaked and cold as...but it was worth it.
On board for the start of 2016 with seven silvers, the first one for the year being a 1933 NZ florin, a small silver lid of some kind (not hallmarked) and a cool old WW2 NZ Artillery hat badge, broken but still cool.

Mrs Chrispy is not a Happy Camper up in the North Island. Rain rain rain, with four kids, and big Daddy stuck inside the Caravan. Hang in there Chrispy good weather is on the way. Nice finds 8. Neat military Badge.

Haha....I have total sympathy for Mrs Chrispy. The big guy will be going crazy all cooped up in a wee caravan like that. Look out North Island silver and gold..... when he's finally unleashed with the mighty E-trac, there will be no stopping him!

Just a few bits from today's hunt. Another 6 silvers to the tally, a couple of WW2 bits and a cool old lead bullet.

Cheers for your comment. Yeah, it looks to have been dropped not long after being issued. Even the pic doesn't really do it justice. It's certainly very close to uncirculated.

Hunted a rural spot today with Erickd. Was real hard going but managed to squeeze out five silvers including a nice 1871 young Vicky shilling. Also of note was a cool wee medallion with a pattern and a small stone on each side, a Victorian military button and a neat old sugar spoon.

Tough hunt last night in a trashy spot with Erickd and Chrispy. Did however manage to pull out a 1915 sixpence and a wee .925 ring.
