A nice, warm autumn evening tonight so organised a night hunt with foiled again. Cheers mate, a very enjoyable evening's hunt.
Had a few real nice finds including two threepence, a silver hallmarked pipe band, two cute wee silver baby's bootie charms...about a foot apart (excuse the pun) and a cool old three ringer bullet......but by far the best find......two .925 silver rings from the same hole!.....absolutely stunned.
Happy hunting all.

Ooohh 'KG' guess what I've got says the 'Ring Master'. I found a similar haul last night both sitting in the one hole two horrible little pull tabs staring back at me.
Good job.

Now then...here's a wee poem some of you may be able to relate to;

No sooner had I bought the rings home through the door..... then the wife swooped in, and they were mine no more!

Cheers mate. Yep, it's all out there.....just gotta be a little more lateral in thought these days about where you hunt and what natural or man made changes to your surroundings can be used to your advantage.

Another cool but fine evening, so hit a local spot with foiled again. Some very cool finds to be had including a very nice lead bullet, six pistol balls, a cool old cat brooch and.....WOOHOO!!!.....an 18ct Victorian ring with three beautiful diamond's and two stunning sapphires. No assay or hallmarks other than "18" and the makers mark " B & S".
Three rings in the last two hunts.....stunned and totally stoked!
GL & HH all.

That's one nice ring#8, Cat is pretty cool too. (I hope there is going to be no showing off next week.lol.) It just goes to show there is not really such a thing as 'hunted out'. Congrats.

Cheers mate. Yeah, the wee cat brooch was a pretty cool find. The back of it is gilt, so as I started to uncover it, I thought for one crazy moment it was gold. Found it next dig after the ring and only a couple of feet away.
Too true your "no such thing as hunted out " statement....just harder to find I reckon.
As for showing off....I'm not a Cantabrian so no need to show off..lol.

Cheers dude...thought at the time it was a pretty special find.
Took it into a manufacturing jeweler yesterday. He confirmed that the stones are indeed diamonds and sapphires but personally of more interest to me, is that he believes that the ring is of early NZ manufacture and most probably NZ goldfields gold! He couldn't tell me who the manufacturing jeweler B & S was but was very confident of it's NZ origin. I've tried to track B & S but cannot find any leads for this maker mark in NZ. Have trawled adverts in "papers past" on the Net but no luck. If anyone has any other ideas on how I could find out, please share. :)

To me, the social history aspect is waaaay more interesting than the monetary value of the ring....hope it is NZ gold rush gold... that would just rock!
