Hey fellow hunters just posting the spoils of my last 3 hunts. Two were with Ericd and the last a solo mission this afternoon on the way home. On the two hunts with Ericd I managed to find a farthing on each trip which was cool. The ring looks to be old vintage and is hallmarked STERING. Best find is the mint condition 1888 jubilee shilling that I got today. Also got 28 bucks in spendies and the countless 1-2 cent coins lol.
Happy hunting.

Ooo one year to high on the half crown, 1944 has a low mintage apparently and people pay a premium for them.

Pretty good effort Chrispy, but no sovereigns. They just seem to elude you. Oh well one day maybe. Farthings seem to be coming your way though. And that is a kinda nice shilling.

Cheers Trev

Out for an epic hunt today with Ericd. Not quite the big silver haul like him but very happy with what I found. First big tick off the bucket list was the 1943 ozzy florin. Something ive been hoping to find for a while. Second was the two fired .577 snider bullets. Its fun to think that these bullets were probably fired off around the late 1800s early 1900s. Third was the Alliance Tea Company token dated 1866. very cool. Also found a 1865 half penny which was a bonus. Only managed 20 silvers due to the fact that I was missing the threepence because there target id was lower than normal. Once I figured that out I started finding a couple but was too late in the day. Any way great day, cheers Ericd.

Hey man, congratulations on the Oz florin. Did yours ring up quite a high number? Most big Victorian silver rings up 89-90 on the T2se...my Oz florin was a solid 93!
Love the sniders and of course, the way cool token. Nice work mate.

Thanks bro. The Etrac tops out at 50 on the numbers range so a solid silver usually rings up around 48-49. As there were two floins bout 100mm apart, one nz and one ozzy the numbers were jumping from 42- 48. Was expecting a couple of two cent coins so it was a nice surprise.

Havnt been able to get out much lately but heres the good bits from last month.
My favourite is the vintage silver plated firemans button in really good condition and fully intact.
On my latest hunt I told myself I wanted some thing cool and maybe an old three ringer bullet. Well blow me down I found two fired thee ringers and a really nice sterling silver marching medal in mint condition and very deep.

You got some really nice finds there Chrispy.
Have not seen a Firemans button found before.
The marching medal is certainly a piece of our past.

Are you still swinging the ET?

Yup still swinging the etrac and loving it. Might have to sell one of the kids so I can afford my own one lol. Heading to The Hatters this weekend for a bit of bush detecting so might be the end of the road for me and miss etrac. Has been a longtime on loan. Cheers Trev. Your a top bloke.

Bloody Crispy just nuts off when he finds those bullets. I know of an old early late 1800"s 1900's rifle range over here on the coast with the most. If he finds the butts, ya won't need a detector, just a shovel, it will be mass metal. And if he is lucky and adventurous enough, he may luck onto the greatest coin spill in NZ. My lips are sealed. But just so I can track him, he will get a quick lesson on the GPS system on the CTX3030, use that, and I can have him on google earth in a flash. And see just where the cunning buggar has been. The Hatter is not completely nuts. Only half mad lol. Oh and Crispy guess I will give you another three months on the E Trac. I will put her on extended leave, as much as it breaks my heart.
Bloody nice machine, but I do have a heart.

Well presented photos, silver on the blue velvet is a nice touch, and has given me inspiration to try and be a bit different when posting, rather than the same old A4 paper lol, like the medallion, funny thing was I found a marching girl one as well while with Chrispy on the same hunt, but mine wasn't silver.

Can you two just behave yourselves. You are supposed to be metal detecting, not chasing Marching Girls.

Got over to the coast to catch up with Trev The Hater this last weekend. Had a great time catching up and had one of the best home cooked roasts in a while. Cheers mate. Had a wee tiki tour around some old small gold towns and bush cemeteries all going back to the 1880s. Some areas seemed to be completely hunted out with not even a single trash signal but a couple of the more remote bush cemeteries gave up some nice wee treasures.
The oldest was a 1874 penny. Also worth noting was a 1880 sixpence and a lovely 1888 shilling.
The coolest were the two old padlocks found in the same cemetery but at different ends.
I also hiked up one of the local creeks looking for a bit of gold and came back with two very very small nuggets.
Overall a magic weekend with great company. Thanks heaps Trev your a bloody legend mate.

You went home a day early Chrispy. Next day two and a half pound of famed Buller whitebait, came over the fence. Rental on the Gold Cube lol.
But I will be nice and save you a pound for your next trip over. And I guess I will whack you up another roast. Just to think, if I had have got off my bum, I would have scored that treasure. The 1888 Brit shilling is a great keeper, as is the rest of the treasure.
