Seems the TassieDetecting guy's also selling that unit as a pinpointer for coins:

I notice also that everything except Garrett has now disappeared from TassieDetecting website (he had Bounty Hunter, Teknetics, Fisher & Garrett last week, maybe more). The currency converter has also disappeared so his prices now only appear in AU$s.
he took his listings for fisher and technetics listings of so as not to step on the toes of local fisher dealers who also deal in technetics gear!

Quite right Andy, but the removal of the NZ$ currency converter from his site suggests something more than that might have happened.

So the NZ Fisher Distributor is also the distributor for Teknetics & Bounty Hunter as well?

OMG - I wasn't aware of this - I have been getting those items from an overseas supplier

Does this mean I can purchase Fisher equipment from a Teknetics/Bounty Hunter supplier?

I know First Texas owns the three manufacturers in question, however what I did not know
is that if you are a distributor for one brand, you automatically become a distributor for the others

I wasn't aware that's how it went -

In the spirit of self promotion; if anyone actually wants any Tecnetics gear I can order it from Fisher, they are owned by the same company making Fisher and Tecnetics dealers basically the same thing.

I want to know just how good they are as YES I would be prepared to get one if they are as good as the real deal...we talk of the morals of people selling fake goods under a certain brand name but do we consider the morals of people making goods for 'X' dollars then ripping people off by charging 50X dollars?

I Do not agree with people being frauds and selling an item as an original as that isnt right BUT until people know the true story or the true circumstances then there shouldnt be a hanging party.

My hypocrisy is such however that I would like to see it for myself and judge for myself and if it was as good as the original and it can be made at a fraction of the cost then it might pay to consider that the original is in its own right a rip off so maybe one rip off deserves another!

So true lammerlaw.

there are so many large international companies milking it on overpriced products. sure, the researched and invented whatever. but then continue to sell at huge profits for something that costs very little to mass produce.

i've seen a lot of use of the word FAKE screamed about on this forum. surely a fake is no good to anyone if it doesn't work, and any buyer surely must know if a product is genuine or a lesser copy. if not the genuine article you would expect to pay less of course.

depending on the product some so called fakes are still marketable. maybe not a chinese minelab detector that looks the part but lacks the internal sophisticated workings.

i can think of a couple of good scams off the top of my head. and no, these aren't the fakers cashing in. its the bloody big corporates.

1. batteries. no matter what type you're getting screwed. do some research and they are many cheaper better options not in the shops.

2. printer toner. this is a good one. make the printer's warranty void if you use non-brand toner. i used a refill shop and got my toner refills down to $45. they were $85 with official brand toner. now my brother tells me you can import toner from china. but no, it's complicated and messy to refill your own i say. turns out i bought 3 bottles of toner, each able to provide 2 refills (so 6 fills in total), for $34 landed from China. all i needed was a funnel and some knowledge from you tube. it turns out the dodgy printer company makes it hard for you to do this refilling. once you refill there is a fiddly little reset spring where you have to undo a side panel etc etc. anyhow, end refill was fine once i bet their shitty little system.

3. some fake products are made right next to those genuine ones. think about where the "genuine" products are made. some chinese factories of course have stringent quality controls. this usually means they have western forces securing the factories to ensure extra product is not made after hours.

For $80 i would myself be interested in a pin pointer but i wouldn't pay the full price as thats just ridiculous. money talks.

I know trade me can be a pretty harsh environment. sellers are always dobbing other sellers in. shop keepers hate the site too. trade me is pretty quick to shut stuff down over complaints. hopefully this gut selling pin pointers will resurface.

No. Parallel imported product is real product, from the original supplier, but not purchased through the suppliers "approved" official supply chain.

Currently it is legal to parallel import into New Zealand. It didn't used to be - the "official" NZ distributor could have the items seized at the border. I'm pretty sure people are trying to get it banned again via "overseas trade talks".

The Warehouse parallel imports a lot of stuff.
