Hi All. About three hours at Hagley yesterday afternoon produced this little lot. Nothing spectacular but the 1908 Brit thrupence is in really nice nic and the wee Union padlock is real cool too. The lead fishing sinker must be pretty old too, as it has that familiar yellow/white toning to it, kinda like the old musket balls.
Ignore the date at the top of my pic......I got a bit ahead of myself there. Should read 29/09.

Swung the coil after work this afternoon with Roy for a couple of hours. Not a lot to show for it, however Roy scored a VERY nice enameled 1925 exhibition badge and I got this wee medallion. It's about the size of a half penny and was obviously highly gilded in it's day. It says "Queensland Govt. _ _rlys" Maybe one or two letters before the 'rlys' but unreadable. Also has the number 1 on each side of the central number 38. It is engraved with a name, number and date on the reverse. These are "G. Hutchison" then the number "161" then a date "30.9.14"
Can't find anything on Google remotely like this medallion.............any idea's anyone? Anyone have an idea what the missing letter(s) may be before the "rlys"?....... I suspect this would probably identify it.

Cheers for that mate. I've sent an email and pic off to the Queensland Historic Railway Trust, to see if they can shed any light on it's possible connection with them.

Had a reply today;
It's a metal season ticket for first class travel between Brisbane Central station (1) and Ascot Station (38), on the Pinkenba line. The highly gilded ticket possibly belonged to a local parliamentarian, and was given as a free season pass. The curator of the Railway Workshops Museum in Queensland couldn't track the name on the pass but said that the date on the back was most likely the issue date. He said he will do more research on the name and let me know.
Isn't it cool to be able to track (no pun intended) history from a wee piece metal like this............just can't get enough of it!

Checked out a new spot today after work with my new coil and scored a few bits and pieces including a musket ball, a very "grey" silver 1864 six pence, a few pennies (oldest also 1864)...... and two Christchurch tokens.
One "H. J. Hall, grocer" which is a bit rough and unfortunately "gakked" by yours truly .......and an absolutely stunning "William Pratt Drapery" token... The Hall token was at about 6" and the Pratt was a good 8".......Well pleased with my afternoon in the sun and the new coil.
