went out for a wee hunt with robert last night…didn't do great but i did manage to get a silver……..an 1891 jubilee head florin….which is a rarer florin due to it's low mintage compared to other years……other years they were made in the millions where as the 1891 only 836,000 were minted…looking online…in fair condition it is worth about 40 bucks and goes up from there…going by the picture they have of on at a rating of F+ mine is in better shape. i think a few people call these gothic florins but the gothic actually stopped minting in 1887 then came out the jubilee head florin….

The English florins of that era and our half crowns are the coolest designs I reckon.

Very nice coin Chris....and a rare one at that. Well done. Always a great buzz to find old Brit silver........the highlight of any hunt I reckon....except maybe when it's GOLD of course.

went for another wee hunt with Robert befor coming home to Invercargill..went to same park where I got the florin and Bang..pulled an 1840
something half crown...Very warn but if you look closly you can see the 184.....cant make out the last number..to warn...

I was using the Fisher F75 and this coin was 13 inches deep...Robert will voche for tht..lol

all the silvers we have found at this park so far have been pre 1990's brit except the the 1 NZ sixpence I found yesterday...
with all the old brit silvers from the 1800's we are hoping this park will turn up a sov or 2..lol

As Creamer said, it's great to see you out there hunting and posting again Chris. Another awesome find old boy....keep it up. Hopefully, I might even catch up with you down there, one of these days!

would be cool to catch up...I don't get a lot of detecting in these days as I don't have my own machine at the moment..but enjoy when I get to use Roberts..lol....although he has threated to stop letting me use his because I am finding better coins than him..lol
