I scored a very nice detector off a mate and have been learning the ropes all over again on it...its a whites XLT Spectrum

done a coupla hunts and on the second one got my first silver with it, and second silver for the year

this detector has a gold prospecting program built in and also has good ground balance so am hoping to hit some beaches and gold bearing places to test it out properly

haha yeah It found me 2 silvers today at a park and a heap pennies/half pennies etc I tried it with a personal program found on the net and seemed to work good...found an old penny in my lawn that was 8 inches deep and the F2 had missed, then a half penny and 3 1c pieces

but no, I think the F2 is still my main detector and will use the whites for beaches and hot rock areas..till I can find an AT Pro or AT gold for less than a grand :)

Keep it in the boot to pull out when you're at a site where the good stuff is pretty deep then. :)

I did a couple of trees at Anzac Park in Timaru on the last night I was there (very muddy and getting dark!). I found a 1940 threepence about an inch down, and then looked around the tree and found a 1921 penny sitting ON THE GROUND UNCOVERED.

haha thats awesome Andy!!

Me and Krystal went out tonight for a blast...I started on the whites and she started on the F2 for the first time.....she was in the middle of saying she didn't like it and wanted the chinese machine when she got a signal and first coin she found was a 1933 sixpence. Go figure. She liked the F2 straight away lol...I on the other hand after 1 hour had found a 2 c piece so went back to the F2 and she went back to the chinese machine and we changed area's. I got owned big time lol she is bloody good!

the silver WW1 badge she found is soooo cool and as follows

http://www.keepmilitarym...e.php?&dx=1&ob=3

Not sure about the other wee brooch she found but It is a sword that slides into the sheath thingy and has made in france on the back

My only badge is a duck. Just a duck. It does have "I am A Coco cub" on it. It's a duck.

hmmm. I need some gold I think to live this hiding on the field down :)

Hi Dan

My wife is like that too, give her the detector or put it down to dig a plug and she's off, seems like all the trash just disappears for her, peeves me off! Just to add insult to injury she also gets me to dig the plugs so I also get the diss-pleasure of telling her what she has found ~deep breathe~ oh well at least she understands my crazyness *8^)

Man you're finding some cool stuff and you consistently seem to do it
Well done!

Great finds there . Nice lot of silver.
Have you had a glass on to that brooch(?) to see if there are any marks?

Posting is never a waste of time Dan - sometimes silent appreciation is cool,
or maybe too drunk to type, or feeding the baby, or lost yer glasses or
no time going detecting etc. :-) No I am lying comments are good eh.

Gosh, golly, wow and other terms of wonder.

Hows that?

Must admit that you have some awesome finds but that is due to the efforts you put into your hobby. Keep it up. I look at every photo and all the posts relating to detecting and most of the golding ones.

Nice finds Madsonic. That badge is a real treasure. Wish i was close by, i could ''duck'' in to check out the finds..
Metal detecting catchs on fast and it doesnt take long for the family members to join in the fun. Im saving for a second machine.
