I think it is pretty obvious that ‘Jafa’ is someone who gets his kicks stirring up trouble on internet forums. If you not pay any attention to him he will go make a nuisance of himself somewhere else.

sorry poobear next time i take a pic of gold shall i put some toys in there to just to keep you happy.

Ray, You are an idiot because you used EXPLOSIVES in the Coromandel, not because you "found" a piece of quartz with some nice looking gold in it. It is the method you used. I will repeat myself to you. Fossicking for gold is not an acceptable pratice in the eyes of the law any where in the north island. You do so at your own risk. The Coromandel, like it or not, has a very strong green movement. The tree hugging frog arse licking type. Using explosives is a sure way to fuk it up for all of us. So just think about that aye.....before you go & do it again. If you do go & do it again then with any luck you will blow your head off & then we wont have to worry about the likes of you stuffing it up for the rest of us "responsible" fossickers.
If you did find that nice specimen then I am supprised that that is all you found & didnt get any other colours along with it. I have found some nice specimens myself in the Coro without the use of explosives & just using hand tools. But I have always found other bits of gold along with them & never ever just found one nice little specimen all by itself. I find it hard to believe that there was no other gold trapped in that crevice with that piece or maybe your panning skills are that bad that you threw out all but that biggest bit.
It also seems that you are digging yourself a big hole on this forum & that you are making no friends. I find it disgusting that you would take such a cheap shot at the Christchurch earthquakes. That really shows your true colours & what a low life you are. Makes you paint a really good picture of a JAFA & why a lot of the country has that opinon on Aucklanders. You have done yourself no favours at all.

lol...what a dickhead!

Gavin...as amusing as its been reading this uneducated baboons writings... (yes Jafass thats you I mean) don't you think it prudent to log his IP address and simply ban him from the site...seems to me and from what I can gather EVERYONE else, that it would go back to being a nice friendly site again.

Personally I think the guy is maybe a bit young to be on the site anyway...if not young then definitely too stupid. Nature & karma will take it's course

All in favour say aye lol

Interesting - I think Gavin is either on holiday or hiding around the corner trying to fathom out how it is that by beginning this forum he thought he was opening the can of caviare but has just found out that it was really a can of worms!

As for jafas - I found that they were unstable when thrown from a height having had experience as a kid in picture theatres! To be fair to Mr Jafa I think his problem is social ineptness and rest well assured that the closest he has seen to explosives is a cracker at the kindergarten fireworks display. If he had any sense he would not have stated that he was in Coromandel blowing things up - unless it was on private property with the land owners permission and quite possibly the only gold he has found is actually - you guessed it - fools gold!

Jafa - be sensible and think before you write.

Hi guys,

Unfortunately I don't get the time to read everything that everyone posts - I try to skim most stuff though. The best thing to do is use the "Report?" link that appears at the bottom right of every post. This will alert me to any problems a bit quicker ;)

The jafa's certainly rocking the boat a bit I see! I don't like to ban anyone unless I really need to, so for now I've just suspended his account for a week. Let's see what happens after that. There's been a few people that caused a bit of a stir when they first joined the forums, then surprised me by becoming valued members of our little community that contribute useful stuff and engage well with other members (probably more than me :P ). I think it's too easy to read the wrong intentions in to someones post and jump to the wrong conclusion and perhaps go on the attack back (don't read anything too deeply in to that last one - not read all the posts in this thread - more talking about past experience!).

Cheers,
Gavin

My opinion of the guy - and to be honest he hasnt crossed me in any manner so theres nothing personal here - is that he is quizzically 'strange' - and the thing I do like about him to be honest is that he has taken a bit of flak and hasnt become nasty about it..its sort of like water off a ducks back. At the same time he seems to promote a certain degree of antagonism and certainly got off on the wrong foot coming straight into the forum shooting down other guys contributions in respect of the bits and pieces they have found.

I dont look at sinkers and goodness knows what but speaking from experience long past I know that the very first objects I ever found with my first detector were treasures and I was proud of them and in that regard I see the guys here as being in the same boat. After they have got hundreds of items including a good number of silver coins, maybe a half sovereign ( I have never found a genuine gold coin yet - but others I know have) then the sinkers etc might not be mentioned and the real valuable items will be all that is mentioned...but everything comes from a beginning and each of us must respect that - including Jafas!

I have fun reading his contributions as I do my maths working out the percentage of errors he makes in relation to the words he has written and so on and so far hes at level 1 of the old Schonnel Spelling lists which is sort of equivalent to Primer four - whatever that is in modern terminology...year three I assume.

1 week is probably enough time for him to get an honourary mention in the Darwin Awards 2011.

Well I did say - to quote myself 'To be fair to Mr Jafa I think his problem is social ineptness and rest well assured that the closest he has seen to explosives is a cracker at the kindergarten fireworks display' - in other words his attempts to 'pull the wool over our eyes' can be readily seen - as they would say in New Guinea I think it is 'Big fella yabba yabba watch 'im that one' - high pressure salesman or bull shit artist.

I would not be at all surprised if the gold photo can be found somewhere, either in a book or on internet but I may be wrong and if so apologise accordingly.

Hi guys, Personaly I think Jafa is having us on. Just come on here for a bit of a wind up. Why it is that people like this can be bothered wasting their time is beyond me. Maybe he is on P or something....or has a pretty boring life. But the facts are that there are people out there like this.
For those of you who have been around this forum for a while, will be well aware of my rants & raves about my opposition to naming exact places to go looking for gold, no matter where it may be, on a public forum & the stir that caused. A public forum is out there for the whole world to see, not just the members of the forum. So I take this opportunity to drive the nail home to point out that it is people like Jafa, who being a minority, can ruin it for us, the majority. So why would you want some one like him knowing of a good gold spot?? How often can just one or two people stuff things up for every body else?? Happens every where all the time doesnt it.
In my case the area is the Coromandel, & it is my home. I am very passionate about going bush & having a scratch around. Just quietly minding my own business, causing & creating no harm & enjoying the out doors. If I am luck I may find a bit of colour. "Legaly" I shouldnt be doing it so the key is to not attract attention. Be stealth.
All it takes is a Jafa to come along & end it all.
I was going to say more.....but wont. I take a dim view of the likes of Jafa. So enough said. I wont waste any more of my time on him.

Happy hunting

JW :)

jW has a very good point.

this forum has been great for learning and meeting new people.

what is too easy is the access to info. anyone can instantly hit the site and jump right in.

in the old days it would have taken years to learn what you can in minutes now.

now that summer is here a lot of people are heading out to new spots. or old favourite spots. while its often hard to keep quiet it will only bring others to your little secret if you blast it all over here. a good example is the very obvious beach down this way. i believe this is all over some tourist website as over the last few years backpacker types have been camping there and trying to pull ounces out.

lastly, it's is not always what you believe. a bit like facebook. the profile given can easily be a fake. or a second profile for the same person.

myself i take it all at face value until proven otherwise. ie. the nugget that was 1 oz becomes 2 ozs the second time the story is told, and so on.

for new guys, use the forum to actually meet up with some active members and head out. they might even let you in to a secret spot.

and for everyone that is an active member it is always of note to see how many non members are on this site frequently!

Yeah, pretty much what I was thinking. 'Jafa' is probably some punk who spends all day smoking weed and pretending to be someone on the internet in his parents house. You can probably find him as a nympho teen girl looking to hook up with older men if you were to go to the right website. I was pretty well assured he was a fake when he posted that picture of his weekends gold find that was taken in January of 2010.

Well done to Ash for the "Out of interest - What type of camera did you use to take this photo?" question that without doubt exposed jafa as a fraud.

Too funny.
