Non-junk jewellery, white gold and diamonds. Very old ring too, was gray/black and crusty when dug. Still working on cleaning it.

I think the Chinese coins were used as jewellery because of the little holes. The other coin is Indonesian.

Continuing the theme of holes; an 1853 copper penny and the only farthing I have found.

And no rubbish roundup would be complete without toy cars and bullets to stir up the complainers. The miniball is a bit unusual in that instead of being hollow in the back it has a brass plug.

Creamer, we convicts all look the same, I traded that guy some smokes for internet access.

I thought it was a jews harp when I dug it, but the centre bit is way to solid to ping with your finger.

Yes i kinda thought that myself lol and not a harp. Has it any broken bits visible. Looks like some sort of leather strapping/bridle rig fastener/adjuster of some sort.

I week and a half ago I was detecting with NPoohbear and found a nice florin. Since then I haven’t had much luck with silvers. I found some pennies and pocket full of one and two cents, but no real treasure. Yesterday evening I went out and didn’t find a single coin, just rubbish. So I wasn’t feeling particularly motivated. Then I talked to NZpoohbear about 5:45 and he was meeting Oroplata for a hunt. I told him I thought I was about due for a good find and that maybe I should go out tonight. But I ate dinner and then lay on the couch and watched the Simpsons. He texted me saying he found a couple of silvers. So I finally got going and hit the local field about 8:00. By 9:00 I had been doing pretty well; I had found several pennies, a 1941 British three pence (not silver) and a 1934 and 1946 NZ sixpence. I was pretty wet at this point and thinking of packing it in, but thought I give it one more short pass. I took about 5 steps and found a 1934 NZ shilling.

I was pretty happy and thinking that I had been due for some good finds and was glad I came out. I was almost at the end of my short pass when I got a good signal and dug up a nice penny. After refilling the hole and stomping it down I swept over it again and got another signal. So I pulled it all apart and got the pinponter out and found a 1891 six pence I had missed the first go around. I was quite happy I had given it another check. I filled it back in and stomped it down, and kind of as an afterthought gave it a sweep. Sure enough I got a weak deep signal. I cleared the hole and cut one side out and came up with a 1918 three pence.

Now, having gotten smarter by this point I went over the hole again before filling it in and got kind of a funny signal. It wasn’t quite right but I wasn’t about to skip anything in this spot. I was having a hard time figuring out exactly where it was and I didn’t want to knick it in case it was silver so I was digging pretty carefully. It was basically dark which didn’t help. I finally picked it up with the pinpointer in one side of the hole and carefully excavated a 1919 half crown that was standing in a dead vertical position. I couldn’t believe my luck, and hated to tempt fate, but I went ahead and swept the spot one more time. Sure enough, got another weak signal about a foot away and dug up a 1918 three pence.

I think it has to be the best hour and a half of digging I have ever had.

I put the coins on the scanner (which actually made a pretty good picture), but I can't get it to upload. Try again tomorrow I guess.

Oh wait... now they showed up. Thats odd. But anyway, glad they are there.
