your so right about the kid karma mate. i had two young chaps come up and ask me wat i was doin so i told them i was looking for old coins.
id only been going a wee while but had a couple of $1 coins so i gave dem one each. they wanted to watch so i said sweet as. nek minut high coin signal on the garret. i must hav been smiling cause one of them asked if that was a good sound. haha dug the plug and turned it over and there was 2 pennys.pulled them out and saw 2 halfpennys. by this stage the kids were thinking that was pretty cool, as was i wen one of them asked wat the shinny thing in the hole was. i proceded to pull out 2 silver shillings, 3 silver sixpences and 2 silver threepences. 11 coins stacked in the same hole.they left after that saying they were gona get there dad to buy them a detector.

For sure florins dont come along as often as do other silvers. This particular one seems quite unique, a real collectors piece at that.

Edward the VII made another appearence this weekend, this time in the form of a half crown. The three pence were right next to one another. Being the same date and in such good condition I wonder if they were new when lost? All three of these coins are in amazingly good conditiona and only took a dip in ammonia to clean up. I am wondering if it is a good idea to target areas where the coins do not get so corroded. I am still trying to clean a six pence from weeks ago that came from a black crust prone location, and I am sure it will not come out as nice as these.

When Poohbear was down for the forum get together we spent a day hitting some local spots. Found a couple of very worn but intersting coins; an 1854 French coin and a 1922 Italian coin. Finally got around to cleaning them up a bit. Photos of better specimens provided so you can see what they used to look like.
