Great replies everyone now we have a good yarn going!!

I tend to not find many new 20's or 50 cents

Research is a great key to finding old stuff. That and swinging ya coil and digging when it beeps :)

Um the area Im hunting now has survey pegs installed a week ago (albiet it not many) so one day yes they will start digging! and yes I reckon I've hunted the good patch a fair bit as only found 8 silvers last time I was there LOL

Do we need to organise a wee thrash sesh out there maybe...theres still probaby 3-4 acres I have not gone near due to long thick grass and there aint many Sundays i don't go detecting :) 115 years of solid history those grounds...bound to be a sovereign somewhere SURELY!! Plenty of you guys have detectors that will go a lot deeper than my F2...I'll try and give ya a run for ya money tho heh heh

Voluntary entry fee a doz of tui or export gold :-D Hold replacement and rubbish removal a must! portable bbq is always available lol

The place is loaded lets do some pillaging!

Dan

Hey there MB,Would be keen on meeting up for a fossick sumtime soon. got a GB 2 which i primarily use for gold but have started using it around town for other treasures. Still getting to know what my detector is capable of . I'm out at Winch. There sure has been a lot of piss consumed at the show grounds, judging by the amount of tear tabs and bottle tops i got on my last mission there.!

I have been doing that the last two days whilst looking for the older coins....when I look for the modern stuff I discriminate. I most likely miss lots of other things but found my gold pocketwatch on discrim but it was a big item.....a divining rod would have found it :)

Roadtrip down to Timaru/Temuka/Winchester is it?

I have often found that a suspect week signal turns out to be a good find. But then i hunt usually on the beachs so i have the luxury of kicking the sand back a bit to see if the signal improves. Sure wish i was back home down south for a bit. Listening to you guys is makin me homesick..

That half crown has excellent toning. I am thinking of putting any good ones like that in one of those neat hand made secret boxes sold on trademe!

you might be better off with a safe with all the treasure you are getting!
And now....On sandy beaches and muddy soil, rings and coins await my coil!

Hunting in all metal mode. Well i very rarely dig up iron. If the signal bounces around a bit i sometimes dig it up if its not too deep. I ve been left wondering lately just how many relics i may have missed. Surely not all iron targets are junk. Basiccally i would have to dig for weeks at some locations to dig up every single beep.
