Pretty good hunt tonite. Westie. Two Sovereigns and an 18K Gold ring with a large diamond. On the old Westport Hospital site. The Doctors must have been rich. What a pity my camera is broken. So sorry no pics. You will just have to take my word for it lol.

Here are my find points if anybody else wants to have a go.

I actually went out. Activated the Map screen, got my GPS fix and went across the road. Turned on Geo Trail and made a perfect Pak and Sav stickman. But it seems I cannot save it, or put on xchange. My second track was in geo track, but did some Findpoints. It did save the findpoints, but not the track. Not a problem as I usually use geohunt, which saves the track and the find points and way points. Still learning I guess.

Hi Westie

Here is a practice run using Geohunt adding find points and way points as I went. I have also mastered the Go to function, using the navagation tool. Its pretty bloody accurate. And of course you can go on Xchange, log in bring up google maps, search for say an old abandoned cemetery or site. Add a with a marker, then add it to your ctx3030. Then when out use go find to get to it. Its an awsome machine when you get your head around it. It took me a while, but once you are there every thing just falls into place

After a few more hunts with nothing of note found. I headed out after work and hit a couple of spots i had been eyeing up.
First spot was a bit too trashy for my attention span but at the second spot i got the first silver coin for the CTX.
1943 sixpence
1952 sixpence
1956 threepence
1941 half penny
and a mystery coin that i suspect is a USA zinc one cent.

Well done Westie.
If the silver is there you will find it with the CTX for sure.

A quick hunt tonight to take advantage of the rainy day- 3 and a half pennies.
1936 britainia penny came from 9 inches down and was on its edge.

Hi LKD, I never used to find predecimals till 270win showed me how to find predecimal silver coins. From then on I was hopelessly addicted to the hunt...
Tonight's efforts
2 Silver 3d
1 penny
A wotsit
A old medic alert bracelet its hand engraved on the back and its a old wellington phone number so I think that it is quite old.

Back at the 3d spot. tried using the Geotrak to search a spiral pattern but I can see I missed a lot of ground before searching in what I thought was a straight line towards another landmark.

Yeah I must have a go at the Geotrak too. Could be a bit of extra fun.

There is a tiny punch mark that could be a stamp. The house pixies have hidden my jewelry loupe and the rings too shiny to photograph the 'stamp' with the macro on my SLR. I think that it is just wishful thinking on my part that the 'stamp' is anything more than a random mark.
It's good fit for a signet ring ring for me and I like it so Its a keeper even if it is just stainless.

Got an hour or so of freedom. Headed to the spot where I got the two 3ds a few weeks ago. Dispite last night's rain the ground was dry as a bone so headed for some trees and worked my way through the leaf litter.
Got a nice 5.9g STG SIL Scorpio ring. From under a tree root and inches away the 1934 NZ Sixpence.
A Britainia penny and half penny, and a NZ penny rounded out the hour nicely.
By really slowing down my swing I could hear the good deep targets even with trash nearby.
