Found my first detector contact in my town. Cool. And a treasure seller..wow gonna be a cool week.

CLR (calcium, lime, rust) works well on cleaning up silver and stuff. Have to be careful still. Disolves salt encrustation in minutes. No good on pennies.

Secret squirrel 3 day mission coming up in a month. Cant wait. GOLD there for sure.

#29 trip. The site. Back for a third brief time and found 2 goldies, 6 coins in all and an incan type pendant which we (me and sis) found on the last beep on our way back to the van. We were happy as with this find. Neally histerical to say the least.. A small but significant find. This was my first real dirt dig. Ive only been doin beachs and the odd playground so pleased with this result.

#30 trip. Back to this familiar beach for the 4th time lookin hard for Gold. 6 goldies, 48 coins all up and 3 rings. One is a dolphin style ring toe. And one got hit by the shovel and its a little beauty. Will need special cleaning tho. And some big calibre bullet heads. Coming towards the end of the month and im neally all beached out. Its half an hour to these beaches and the fuel bill is adding up. well worth it still but might try sticking around town for a bit. All good.

Hey there Poohbear, thats my ace shes got. Made for a better pic..
Yes we do look alike thanks..

#31 trip. 02/10/11 .The site. 4th time. Back ther again 4 half an hour and found a japaneae 10 yen 1953-2011 in top condition, where the front entrance of the church was. From memory i think local japanese people used this church so quite happy with this find. Further over i dug up a mint as NZ 1934 threepence. Looks near new, kind of. So even more happy. I plan to frequant this spot. It is loaded with metal. Making a decision on wot to dig more difficult. Lead head roofing nails are a bit frustrating as they ding like gold and silver.. Ok, so far i have found of interest, an old nz coin, a foreign coin and a silver piece of jewellery. Extremely happy with myself and my machine for these 3 items. (11 coins all up)

#32 trip. 09/10/11 .We went 40 minutes up north for a fossick. Had a look at Hi Hi beach and then went for a look at Taupo Bay (the beach in the photo). 8 goldies, 31 coins all up and a spoon of reosonable quality.

hey creamer I noticed that you had the garret 350... does the coin identifier still work with nz coins? and is it pretty accurate when it comes to pull tabs?

To be honest i havent paid much attention to the coin identifier side. It is odd tho wot coins make which sound. Can pik up a nz 1 cent piece at quite a depth. 20 and 50 cent pieces ding differantly to other coins. 1 and 2 dollar goldies are very positive dings. The ace 350 gives out strong signals and week signals. A week signal in the middle under the pull tab is usually a pull tab so yes quite accurate. (one day its goin to be a gold ring...lol) I basically dig everything bar the iron which somtimes i dig if the signal bounces around. I cant believe how easy and basic the 350 is. Perfect for beach hunting. Perfect all round i say. Big cost here in nz to buy tho. I ordered mine from the states and it took 15 days from memory and cost just under 500 dollars.
I hunt in all metal mode always.
Basically i use the on/off button and the sensitivity and thats it. Now and then i will click to jewellry mode if theres a hundred hits in one hole...

#33 trip. The site 5th time. Cleaned up yesterday, 14 coins, some were american, a 1961 nz threepence and a 'Vintage' Swann and Hudson blood donor badge. I notice now that my ace dings right where it sez 1 cent on the screen. Some reoson it does like 1 cent pieces... Knowing that i fossicked this sight before they build over it is a good feeling. Will takes months at this sight and some to clean it out but thats probably impossible as the amount of junk metal there is staggering. But me ace are pullin coin right out of it...yeh.

Gidday Creamer

Are you gridding this place? Given the history of the place, I'm picking that you need to have a method of maximising your time and finds. I have started off willynilly at one place I went to, looked like some drunken buggar staggering all over the place, until I realised that I needed to be more systematic in my approach. Two pegs and a long piece of string works for me. An old church in Blenheim is being moved the the Brayshaw Historical Park soon and I'm dying to have a look around the old site. Church over 130 years old. Bring it on. Just have to get permission.

Hi kiwisouth. I didnt grid at first, just put a big stick where most coins were. But now ive put more sticks in lines because your right, if ya dont grid you lose hours and ive made this mistake before at a big beach. And now im realising that this place im doing holds more than i first thought so ive started gridding more intensly. Yes, people probly thought look at this guy, wots he hopin for, but i think im preserving history and that in itself is cool. And yes, nice one for doin your church site when you can. Enjoy.

too much, my earliest find and only cos it was next to my fuel can. Just seen it there and picked it up. Yeha
My two best coins have been found on gravel driveways a spit from the door...

Congrats on your Eagle eye spotting that token Shane. Pity about the cut but still an excellent find.
Pleased to hear you are gridding that site as it is a big one. If you get too hot in that Nortland sun try placing a cold one
at each end of the grid line - helps with the focus. :-)
