Cool, I'm a little like Gollum to precious to get rid of lol, mind you only have 2 Gold rings so guess if I had a load I probably would sell.

Hey mate, I've always found Westenra Jewellers on Papanui Road to be very good. He always seems to give a fair price and will give you a cash cheque for what he takes.

Gidday chaps, little to report unfortunately. I have attached a few photos of what I suspect could be a fragment of some sort of ordinance? Anyone know anything about that sort of thing? Was found nearish a military installation. Also I have included a photo of two rings. I have already posted about the big crossed out ring so its just the one on the left that is new and that was found over a month ago. There is simply too much sand wherever I go at the moment. Had a hunt recently where I gave up on sensible detecting and detected near a fishing spot and ended u[p with 9.9kg of sinkers!! Some crevices in the rocks held up to a dozen! Yesterday I went to a spot that is a bit older and found a large number of bullets, from .22 right up to snider bullets. Also got a broken silver threepence there. If anyone likes finding bullets give me a pm and I will share the location.

Over Easter I am migrating south for 6 days and will hopefully post about some golden Easter eggs upon my return. Fingers crossed!

Hey guys, I'm sorry I have not been posting any finds lately but it has been for a good reason. I recently found some knitting needles and asked grandma to show me how to use them. As a result of her tuition I have become quite hooked on knitting which I never would have expected. My work mates laugh at me for it. See the picture below for one off my recent creations, I can make these in all sizes and colours and I am selling them for 50 per individual sock. After all they are custom items that will truly make you stand out in a crowd.

Well I hope the above had you concerned for sanity. Honestly the beaches are quite sanded in and I have not had much success. I went down south over Easter and made this video of my trip https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LL8BVkdEmYo. I went out today and managed to find a 9ct gold ring of around 5g in weight. Had a hard time aven locating any signals, only got three coins total! All buried by sand.... The ring came from a small bedrock outcrop that I have detected around previously but some sand had shifted. I'll take it!

Hey chaps, I had a quick detect today while the wife went for a walk along the beach. I managed to find a hole in the sand where some goodies were within reach. I got the items in the below. I especially like the WWII dog tag. Also cool is the old penny, 1876, apart from yesterdays old trade token old finds are rare at the beaches I hunt. Also got a 9ct ring today which is good as I have had two hunts without gold! I will have to keep an eye on that hole in the sand, hopefully it gets bigger now that we are moving towards winter weather.

Hi Hatter from the other Hatter

It would be an interesting and fulfilling journey if you contacted the US Embassy. And through them could locate and contact the young US Navel persons next of kin. And return the Dog Tag. 1942. He was probably in the Pacific campaign and may well have been killed. Failing next of kin not being able to be located. The US Navy may well be able to supply you his service history. And then you have a truly remarkable find. He was probably frolicking on the beach with a young Auckland Maiden whilst on shore leave.

Cheers Trev
